Dear All,

Planning ecotherapy sessions this month has come with the additional hurdle of dressing to suit all 4 seasons. Frosty mornings have given way to hot sunshine and turned to torrential rain, all in the space of 90 minutes! While this weather is confusing, there's something life-affirming about ending a session to reveal dry clothes under your waterproofs (or the ones I have lent you) and getting on with your day.

Not only does the chaotic climate leave us confused, but the natural world is lurching to keep up with the changes. I started to notice this three decades ago on the farm where I grew up. Leaves were falling and buds forming at the wrong time of year, and this is one reason that the current rate of extinction is faster than when the dinosaurs died out, and farmers are coming to terms with their second year of "the worst harvest ever". Alarming though it might sound, we are living through a global mass extinction!

This makes many of us feel scared and powerless. And, while this is an almost impossible scenario to face and know how to act, every journey starts with a single step. For me, this small step is helping people to connect with nature in a meaningful way. This helps them to navigate the anxieties of the modern world while also building a loving recognition with nature. It is very hard to destroy that which we love and I hope that by building this connection, the increasing number of ecotherapists in the UK and abroad will help to protect the natural world for future generations. As Catherine Bush says, 'what I desire is not control, but the agency to engage in acts of repair'.

If you would like to take a small step towards an act of repair, take a moment to appreciate Savernake Forest in the photo below and use my website to book a free call to discuss how ecotherapy might help you (and nature).

Please also forward this email to anyone who you think might benefit from the calm that comes from guided nature connection.

Love,

Rob
