Mothers' Milk Bank of Tennessee invites you to celebrate our Second Anniversary with us on Friday, November 17 with an Open House from 9 a.m.- 6 p.m. at 2909 Old Fort Parkway, Suite 105, Murfreesboro, TN. This is a great opportunity to tour our facility, learn about the pasteurization process, and meet our team and dedicated volunteers. Refreshments will be provided. This is a family friendly event. Everyone is welcome to attend!
We have so much to celebrate. Since opening, we have collected almost 400,000 ounces of donor milk. We will very likely surpass that amount by November 17. In addition, we have approved over 600 mothers to become donors statewide.
When we opened Mothers' Milk Bank of Tennessee, we strategically selected November 17 as the opening day which is recognized as World Prematurity Day. 15 million babies are born preterm each year worldwide. According to the CDC, preterm birth affected about 1 of every 10 infants born in the United States in 2022. Unfortunately, Tennessee has one of the highest preterm birth rates among the fifty states. Currently, 1 in 9 babies in Tennessee are born before 37 weeks gestation.
We are working each day to support premature babies by providing lifesaving nutrition. We hope you will join us on this special day to celebrate the advances being made to save babies born too soon and too small.
