I've been reveling in the tri-color blooms of these mums we got for Homecoming photos a few weeks ago. Since I don't have a good track record with mums, I've endeavored to water them consistently so I can use their colorful display of God's fall glory for other events this month.

Sometimes it feels like a chore to water these finicky plants, while other times it seems like I'm nurturing part of God's creation for our mutual enjoyment. Our daily devotional time can fluctuate along this continuum as well, can't it? Sometimes our weary souls plunk down and just do it mechanically while other times we're actively engaged and rejuvenated. I hope you hang in there for that eternal glory God is working within you!

I don't know about the squirrels in your 'hood, but ours are spunky and relentless. As we've focused on this month of provision, I've laughed at the bounty these squirrels have in our domestic spaces. They sprawl on our patios, nibble birdseed from our feeders, and munch on the hostas in our yards. Then they have the audacity to peek into our windows to see what we're up to!  Maybe they're "providing" us with a bit of humor in our busy days...???

This phrase "Draw near to God and He will draw near to you" from James has continued to impact me over the years. Soooo... it was a natural fit for me to adopt it as next year's overall theme for our Monthly Bible Quilt Journal.

I just received the printed journals recently and began to release them at this past weekend's Fall Bazaar at my church. I'm excited to share them with you, too!

Although it may seem early to be launching anything for 2022, I've learned it helps to use this prelude to the busy holiday season to lay the foundation for the coming year.
