Greetings from Your

Presidents!

Our next meeting on Monday, November 11, will be held on Veteran's Day. It is hoped that some of our active members who are still working will be able to attend since there is no school that day.

We are encouraging all members to attend the Veteran's Day Parade at 10:45am. We will meet at Memorial Park, enjoy the parade and then go to the Red Lion for the usual 12:00pm luncheon meeting. We are planning to have an informational meeting from the Center for Autism and Related Disorders after lunch.

This is the time of year that we pause to give thanks for the many blessings we are fortunate to enjoy. We live in a beautiful part of the world that provides a wonderful lifestyle. One blessing that I enjoy is the friendship of so many wonderful people. Being involved with Chelan-Douglas School Retirees' Association has provided the opportunity to reconnect with so many of my school friends.

Please remember to vote on or before Tuesday, November 5th. We hope to see you on Monday, November 11th.

Legislative Update

PLAN 1 MEMBERS - IF YOU WANT A COLA - We Need Your Help!

The State Legislative Committee is developing plans for the 2020 session. It is very important that we have active and informed members supporting our efforts! Here's how YOU can help with the Plan 1 COLA:

  1. Join the WSSRA Action email at WSSRA.org (click on "Join Mail List" at the bottom of the home page - your email will not be shared.)
  2. Be available to send messages to legislators when needed.
  3. Inform your friends that Teachers Retirement System 1 (TERS) and PRS 1 are the only retirement systems in the state without a COLA (Cost of Living Adjustment)

Contact your legislative reps if you have questions. They will be travelling to Olympia to meet with our legislators. Mary Perkins: 509-884-7671 OR Denise Perkins: 509-884-8587

Your Health

Guard yourself against the Influenza that is predicted to be dangerous this year.

Flu immunizations are available at your local physician's office or free at most of the pharmacies in the area. Physicians recommend the high dosage for elderly people but the regular immunization for children over 6 months.

Looking for a change in your current health benefits?

Do you have questions regarding Medicare?

A Heath Benefit Fair is being offered November 4 at 9am - 12pm at Wenatchee Valley College Van Tassel Center Room 500-4E. This Benefit Fair will have several vendors that can answer questions you might have regarding your current insurance or if you are looking to change to another policy. Retiree presentations will be presented from 10-11am in Room 501A.

Try Something New!

This month's meeting will be after the Veteran's Day Parade. Come support our veterans then come to lunch at the Red Lion. We hope some of our active teaching friends will join us. Please dress casually.
