September 2023 Hello, Dear Ones! I am an 80's so when I came across this quote from Madonna, I knew it was the one to use this month. In my September blog, Try This If You Always Have To "Get It All Done" For Everyone, I explore and share ways to explore overachieving patterns and offer steps to creating new ways of navigating life that are not reliant on external validation. Overachieving, hyper-independence, and perfectionism are all patterns that I know well. If you can relate to me and Madonna :) Check out the preview of my blog below and click the link to read the entire article. I'd love to know your thoughts, so leave a comment on the blog page. This might be the right time to release behaviors that no longer work for you and create something new that will bring you fulfillment and joy. Remember, you don't have to do this alone. Try This If You Always Have To "Get It All Done" For Everyone Do you tend to be someone who always strives to get it all done for everyone? For many, including myself, this overachieving behavior can lead to burnout and anxiety and often stifle others' growth and learning opportunities. So here is the big question: “How can I center my well-being, trust others to contribute, and still get it all done?” Start with your ABCSS’s! Acknowledge your patterns Be willing to reflect Challenge your assumptions Success, redefine what it means to you Start with one step Let me be clear: Your desire to get it all done is not a problem in and of itself. There may come a time when this no longer works for you, and the cost to your well-being is too high to be sustained. | | Rebecca and I used to live across the street from each other, and we would say hi to each other as neighbors do. Yet, it wasn't until I went to another friend's reading, where Rebecca was also featured, that I realized what a gifted and talented writer she truly is. Rebecca is an award-winning journalist, and her debut novel, Kickdown, was shortlisted for the PEN/Bellwether Prize. Winner of a 2021 Whiting Nonfiction Grant for her new book The Cost of Free Land, which comes out October 3, Rebecca continues to bring perspectives and a deeper understanding of our shared and often obscured history. | | |
