September Shenanigans 2020

If you are not a baseball fan apologies in advance...

This year, the COVID-19 pandemic has thrown everyone a curveball, and the Jason Beaird Memorial Foundation (JBMF) is no exception.  Many of you have participated in the past in our annual fundraising event, Shamrocks and Shenanigans.  This year, our event, which was scheduled for September, has been postponed due to social distancing requirements.

As you may be aware, our annual Shamrock & Shenanigans was our main fundraising event.  But even though our event is in a rain delay, that doesn’t mean the need will end.  In fact, we believe that because of the COVID-19 pandemic EVEN MORE students and families are facing adversity (loss of employment, sickness in family, etc.) This means our JBMF scholarships will be even more critical.

JBMF, “the small charity with the big heart”, still believes it is important to continue doing the wonderful things for our community that we’ve been able to do the last few years.  With your generous donations we have:

  • Awarded $28,000 in scholarships to graduating Orange County seniors in the last 4 years.
  • Supported the Ronald McDonald House and New Hope Center with room pledges.
  • Provided over 5,000 Snack Bags to the families staying at the Ronald McDonald Houses.
  • And our exciting new announcement – the Jason Beaird Memorial Bullpen at the University of Florida’s new baseball stadium.

HOW CAN YOU PITCH IN? There are lots of ways for you to help JBMF have a winning season, despite the pandemic:

  1. You can Step up to the Plate - Donate and become a JBMF sponsor – hit a Grand Slam $1,000 (fund a full scholarship), Home Run $500, Triple $300, Double $200, Single $100.
  2. You can provide any other monetary donation.  Remember a ticket to Shamrocks & Shenanigans usually costs $50.
  3. You can support our online auction which is scheduled for Monday 9/28 through Sunday 10/4.

WITH YOUR GENEROSITY JBMF CAN HAVE ANOTHER WINNING SEASON

MEET YOUR 2020 JBMF SCHOLARS

Despite the challenges facing many students this year, we were able to select 10 outstanding scholars who stepped up to the plate, overcame individual adversity in their lives and hit it out of the park.

Additionally, JBMF is proud to announce the Jason Beaird Memorial Bullpen located at the University of Florida’s new Florida Ballpark at the Alfred A. McKethan Field. Set to open in 2021, the ballpark’s visiting bullpen will be a lasting tribute to Jason’s commitment to higher education and love of baseball. The bullpen announcement and history of JBMF was recently featured in an article published by the University of Florida. Read Here

In order to continue to cover all our bases; including our final pledges to Ronald McDonald House and New Hope Center and continue our scholarship program as well as raise funds for the bullpen, we are asking for your help in the form of a direct contribution this year.

We are grateful for all of our supporters who are willing to go to bat for us and ensure that our fundraising effort this year is a home run!

With gratitude,

JBMF Board of Directors

* P.S.Your donation is tax-deductible and will go a long way toward enabling us to continue our mission as the “small charity with a big heart.”
