FutureMakers Update
November 2019

Thanks for registering interest to receive these updates - I hope you'll find the information useful. It's been a busy few weeks in the life of FutureMakers. Here are some of the highlights...

Palm Springs, 28-30 October

I had the privilege of attending the annual iNACOL Symposium as one of their keynote speakers. Great to mix with other groups and organisations that are focusing on transforming the educational experience of learners to prepare them for their future. You can see my keynote below, and find recordings of the other keynotes here. I also recorded a podcast with Matt and Courtney while I was there which you can find here.

NW Arkansas Schools

I spent the following two weeks visiting a number of schools in NW Arkansas. Educators from this region visited NZ in 2017, and were inspired by what they saw in terms of what NZ schools were doing around personalised learning, cultural responsiveness, promoting learner agency, de-privatising practice and working on different approaches to assessment. Over the past two years each has taken this thinking back to his/her own school context and worked to transform their own practice with a future focus.

Blog Post update

While in Arkansas I captured some thoughts about what I was seeing and reflecting on in some of my blog posts - you can read them here:

They will inherit the earth

Paddling together

Time to weigh the pig?

Killer questions
