Join York County Library's Summer Learning Challenge

'Imagine Your Story' • June 8–July 31 • All Ages • Register Now

YCL invites all ages to read with us for our virtual "Imagine Your Story" Summer Learning Challenge, sponsored by the Friends of the York County Library. The challenge is simple: Read 10 hours and get a prize! For every 10 hours you read (up to 50), you'll earn one entry into a Grand Prize Drawing. Help us reach our goal – 5 million minutes! Register now!

Imagine Your Story with B-Rad

June 15, 17, & 19; 10:30-11:00 a.m. • June 16 & 18; 4-4:30 p.m.

Live stream with B-Rad the magician as he incorporates magic with a motivational message on the importance of reading books. Tune in for a different magic show each day. Be sure to leave a comment or question for an interactive experience.

Dragons: Return of the Ice Sorceress

June 8-14: Join the ScienceTellers as they soar high into the air and touch the clouds on the back of a dragon! Then, journey with them behind the scenes as they explore the science of matter. 

 

Superhero Storytime
June 8, 10:30-11:00 a.m.: YCL will be hosting an online storytime with your "Friendly Neighborhood Web-slinger!" Be sure to leave a comment or question for an interactive experience. 

 

Fairytale Princess Storytime
June 8, 3:30-4:00 p.m.: YCL will be hosting an online storytime with your favorite "Under the Sea" Mermaid Princess! Be sure to leave a comment or question for an interactive experience. 

 

Kickoff Craft: Castle Pencil Holder
June 9: Join Miss Rhonda to make a "castle tower" pencil holder using things from around your house!

 

Kickoff Craft: Homemade Lava Lamp
June 10: Join Miss Zandrea for a craft and science demonstration to make your very own homemade lava lamp! 

 

Magic Snake Bubbles

June 11: Love bubbles? Then make this fun, outdoor STEM craft with Miss Lori using recycled materials!

Kickoff Craft: Popsicle Stick Catapult
June 12: Join Miss Karen for a craft and science demonstration! Make a mini-catapult using just a few materials! 

 

Superhero Storytime

June 16, 11-11:30 a.m.: YCL will be hosting an online storytime with your favorite "Caped Crusader from Gotham!" Be sure to leave a comment or question for an interactive experience.

June 22, 3:30-4:00 p.m.: YCL will be hosting an online storytime with your favorite "Rose Princess" from Beauty and the Beast! Be sure to leave a comment or question for an interactive experience.

June 22-28: Join the Columbia Marionette Theatre for a fast-paced comedic take on the original Brothers Grimm story! With the help of a troll, the daughter of a poor miller weaves straw into gold for the greedy king. However, she soon discovers his help comes with a very high price!

To celebrate the new book release, go back to post-apocalyptic Panem and test your knowledge of the Games with trivia and more fun activities. May the odds be ever in your favor (of winning the prize)!

What cabin do you belong to at Camp Half-Blood? Come find out! We'll have trivia, prizes, and other fun activities to celebrate all things Greek!

Curbside Services Now Available

as Part of YCL's Phased Reopening Plan

    

 

Curbside services are now available. Anyone with a York County Library card or eCard can check out materials they have placed on hold (books, audiobooks, DVDs, ILLs, and HotSpots). Please hold all Book Club Kits and Kinder Kits until further notice. All YCL locations will remain closed to the public during this phase. Outside book drops will continue to remain open, and all items will be properly quarantined. No overdue fees will be charged for items returned during this time. For more information, see our Phase 2 Overview Guide, continue to check our website and Facebook page, or contact us.

 

Curbside Pick-Up & Phone Service Hours:

Fort Mill & Rock Hill: 11:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., Monday - Friday;
11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m., Saturday

Clover, Lake Wylie, & York: 11:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., Monday, Wednesday, & Friday
