Ramin Yazdanpanah, Ph.D. | August 24, 2023

This easy-to-digest weekly newsletter presents a resource for students and teachers, a quote to inspire, and a question to ponder. It really is the little things we do consistently that lead to great outcomes.

Grow your brain, growth mindset activities, stages of drudgery and triumph, process or product

Happy '360' Thursday! Here are this week's resources, quote, and question.

Student Resource

Grow Your Brain

Explore growth mindset with "Thinky Pinky" as he takes you through an exploration of what happens in your brain when it learns. This video was made for kids but is adult-friendly as well!

Tip for students

Check out the following video and ask yourself, "What topics, subjects, or skills do I have a growth mindset for or a fixed mindset for?".

Teacher Resource

Growth Mindset Activities

"The Growth Mindset Activities are designed to help your students build growth mindsets and develop learning strategies to start the school year strong. Developed in partnership with PERTS, a Stanford center that builds on the research done by Carol Dweck, the mindset activities are fun and age-appropriate, providing a structured way for students to explore the science behind the idea that 'You can learn anything'". To access these resources, click here.

Tip for teachers

Teacher modeling for students: One of the biggest things for teachers to pay attention to is modeling the growth mindset for students. Dave walks through three ways teachers can effectively model a growth mindset and create a growth mindset classroom.

Quote

“Every worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph: a beginning, a struggle, and a victory.” - Mahatma Gandhi

Question

Do you identify accomplishment with the process or the product?

Until next week,

Dr. Yaz
