There's always something brilliant happening in our local poetry community, and as the dark winter nights begin to draw in, instead of sitting in with the telly we are finding more reasons to be out doing exciting and uplifting things, engaging with other people and sharing the poetry love!

Next month's Scriptstuff Poetry Night is on Thursday November 18th, back in the cozy and informal Magic Lantern Room at Temperance Bar & Cafe in Leamington's town centre.  And have we got a bumper evening of poetic entertainment for you!  Not only do we have the Big Poetry Quiz (with real prizes!), surprise guests and loads of open mic slots available (no need to book), we have a special set from September's Poet of the Month Chloe Foden and our Headline Guest is the hypnotic and quite frankly ridiculously talented Sophie Sparham (pictured above). 

"Sophie Sparham is a poet and writer from Derby. She has written commissions for BBC Radio 4, The V&A and The People’s History Museum. She co-hosts the night Word Wise which won best spoken word night at the 2019 Saboteur Awards. Her latest collection ‘The Man Who Ate 50,000 Weetabix’ came out in April via Verve Poetry Press."

In a new collaboration, Scriptstuff Poetry is delighted to be supporting the brilliant Welcombe Radio in Stratford-upon-Avon. On November 20th they present their first ever Performing Arts Evening in Stratford-upon-Avon which is set to raise some much-needed funds to keep the station on the air. 

Not only are you invited to buy tickets to what will be a glorious night of live music, literature, art and poetry, we are looking for poets who would like to perform 15, 20 or 30 minute sets at these monthly events; are you interested?  This is a fund-raiser so we are donating the fee back to Welcome Radio, but performers will broadcast live on the radio and the entire event will be professionally filmed and edited for the station (and you) to share with the world.  It's being done in a French cafe style so sounds like a pretty cool evening, n'est pas?!

#LeamPoFest21 has come and gone, and the whole weekend was a resounding success with over 80 local and visiting poets performing across 15 events, all of which were completely free to attend!  The highlights included getting around 75 people into the Magic Lantern Room for the Warwick Literature Society open mic night, and Nottingham poet Leanne Moden winning the Scriptstuff Poetry Slam Championship in a tense and exciting ultimate festival contest.  Big thanks to the Royal Leamington Spa Town Council for their generous support and to Leamington Spa's favourite artsy venue; Temperance Bar & Cafe for hosting it all so superbly.  Roll on #LeamPoFest22!
