APRIL 2024 Updates from STUDIO HROMI |
Hello newsletter recipients! I recently finished the below mural at Dinderbeck, where I've been renting studio space for the past year or so. As you can see even in this cropped photo, the walls of Dinderbeck are covered with murals, and my studio mates were kind enough to let me add one of my own to the collection as a practice project (and as a way to use up some extra paint). I want to do more murals, but I find it difficult to build a portfolio for these types of projects. Not everybody has community space where they're allowed to paint the walls for fun, and huge canvases can be difficult to store. As an aspiring muralist, how do you prove to that you're capable of large-scale work? |

Speaking of Dinderbeck, I will unfortunately be ending my membership there at the end of May. Thankfully it's for a good reason! As of a few days ago my husband and I are officially homeowners, and we're moving to a house that has a large outbuilding where we plan to eventually build a workshop and studio space. That also means that Places I Have Lived continues on, with #12 below. I guess technically I don't live there yet, but we are already in the process of moving! (PS. If you're interested, you can order your own custom house illustration like this one here.) |

PRODUCT FEATURE: HANDMADE SKETCH PADS |
I've been gradually discontinuing some older prints that have been taking up inventory space for quite some time, and have been turning them into covers for these handmade sketch pads. Each sketch pad is 4x6.5" and is hand-cut and bound by yours truly. When you're done with it, you can trim off the top half-inch of the cover for a free 4x6" print! Find them here, with more designs and other varieties coming soon. |

Earlier this month I created this graphical abstract created for Dr. Jenny Ouyang at the University of Nevada, Reno, for a grant application detailing the mechanistic underpinnings of transgenerational response to lead pollution. This week is your last chance to visit the "I Heart Recycled Art" exhibition at ArtRat Gallery and Cocoon Art Space in Grand Rapids. Drop by and see three of my original analog collages (Aluminum, Charmed, and It's All You Need) on display until April 28th, any time during both of the galleries' open hours. |

I currently have one upcoming market scheduled at the moment, taking place at Brewery Vivant from noon-5pm on Sunday April 28th. |
See studiohromi.com/events for other upcoming markets and events as they get added to the calendar. You can also shop anytime online at studiohromi.com/shop and Redbubble, and while supplies last at Scorpion Hearts Club and the GRPM Curiosity Shop in Grand Rapids, and Half Mile Handmade in Bay City. I'm currently looking for one or two additional local or regional spots to sell my wares, so if you have ideas for shops that would be a good fit please pass them along! |

As always, Instagram is where I'm most active online, but you can follow me on any of the social media platforms below, plus Tumblr and Threads. |
