Hello Kainaatis!
As you can tell, the Kainaati universe is becoming busier than ever. Between Kainaat Urdu and Kainaat English, we now have multiple videos every week! But I want to highlight our recent Kainaati Chai interview with Shaheer Niazi, where we talked about the team behind Taqwa Observatory in Balochistan and the spectacular image of a gravitational lens. Please check out the interview if you haven't done so already.
I'm sure many of you are wondering about a prediction of the Eid Moon. The astronomical new moon (when the moon is not visible at all) is at 9:12 am Pakistan time on April 20th. By the time evening rolls around in Pakistan, the Moon will still be too thin to be visible to the naked eye. However, you will see a beautiful crescent in the western skies on Friday (April 21st) evening. Therefore the Eid in Pakistan is expected to be on Saturday, April 22nd. In the US, a very thin crescent should be visible by Thursday evening, resulting in a Eid on Friday. This is a wonderful example of how different parts of the Earth see the Moon at different times and how that relates to differences in lunar-calendar based festivities. Whenever you celebrate it, Eid Mubarak!
