Martha's House of Hope Happenings

As we approach the end of the first quarter of 2021, we are celebrating warmer weather and a walking baby!  We currently have one mom and baby in our care. Our baby will be turning 1 at the end of March! We will be celebrating this milestone with this small family! We have room in the house for up to three more moms. Help us spread the word to anyone who may be in need of our services.

Our current mom has been busy working at her job, making plans for life after Martha’s House of Hope, and being a great mom to her sweet little girl! Some of the activities at the house have included volunteers coming to the house to do devotions, bible study, and making homemade spaghetti sauce!

In the News

We have seen an increase in visibility in the Ames community due to the well written article that appeared in the Ames Tribune and Story County Sun! Here is a link to the article:

Volunteers

There are many opportunities to volunteer with Martha’s House of Hope. Our weekly needs include overnight volunteers and day/evening childcare. The requirements for volunteers who interact with our residents are to be female, be over twenty-one, take the orientation and complete two other on-line trainings. There are also other ways you could get involved other than direct contact with our residents as well. Please reply to this message if you are interested in volunteering.

Giving Opportunities

  • We are so grateful to the many organizations that have chosen to do collections for Martha’s House of Hope. A few that have recently collected items include St. Cecilia School, St. Thomas Aquinas Church & Catholic Student Center, and St. Malachy’s. Thanks to these and other in-kind donations, we have fulfilled many of the items on our wish list. To see our current wish list, go to our website at: https://www.marthashouseofhope.org/wish-list. If you are involved in an organization that is interested in doing a collection or fundraiser for us, please contact Jessica at info@marthashouseofhope.org.
  • We were approved to be a part of the Hy-Vee reusable bag program.  We were the featured organization for the month of January at the Lincoln Center Hy-Vee in Ames, but you can continue to support Martha’s House of Hope through this program throughout the year. You can purchase a red My Heart bag at any Hy-Vee and follow the instructions on the giving tag to direct the $1 donation to Martha’s House of Hope.
  • Your donations help us to provide a home and services to pregnant and new moms in need of support. You can donate online at https://www.marthashouseofhope.org/donate.
