Roll out of the Fight against Open Defecation
The Nanumba North Youth Parliament organized a two-day capacity building workshop on the Community Led-Total Sanitation (CLTS) concept. This is aimed at equipping the Parliamentarians with the needed skills to embark on community sensitization on the negative effects of Open Defecation (OD) so as to encourage people on the need to construct household latrines in their respective homes. This initiative is necessitated by the Sanitation Challenge for Ghana award supported by the Bill and Melinda Gate's Foundation that was won by the Youth Parliament.
The facilitation was done by Environmental Health Directorate of the Nanumba North Assembly.
The Speaker of Nanumba North Youth Parliament, Mr Yakubu Abdul-Rauf has pledged the Youth Parliament will do its possible best to ensure that that at least two communities are declared Open Defecation Free (ODF) by the close of 2020.
