This is Mandi! Mandi hails from Barss Corner, near New Germany. She is joining us for her first summer here at Rebecca's and she says she loves it! When not here at the restaurant Mandi enjoys working in her garden and playing with her three dogs, who she describes as big babies. All three are Rottweiler or rotty crosses and by the sounds of it Buster, Max and Gemma are a trio of well loved beasts. Mandi also treats our staff pretty well too, often making everyone iced coffees during a slow moment and bringing us fresh veggie treats from her garden. Thanks Mandi! |

Food News from Jess Jessica Ali is a Registered Holistic Nutritionist and member of our front of house hospitality family! Nutritional yeast can be a nutritional supplement or a flavour enhancer. It is yellow in colour and grows on molasses or cane sugar. After being harvested it is washed and pasteurized into little flakes that look like corn meal. The subtle salty/cheesy flavour makes it popular among vegans and vegetarians as a cheese substitute. Nutritional yeast contains protein, fibre, full spectrum B vitamins, various minerals and the master antioxidant glutathione. It gives you components to boost immune function, aid in healthy digestion and contribute to healthy hair, skin and nails. Here at Rebecca's we put it on our vegan pizzas and in our caprese burgers to make sure that those menu items have the rich umami flavour that folks enjoy so much. |
