THE WATER DANCERS EUROTOUR

2 MONTHS | 12 COUNTRIES | 21 CITIES

Dear friends,

Thank you for your support of our film and its message that #TheSmallThingsMatter. Today, it brings us great joy to announce some not-so-small-news: We're going to Europe!

Following our international premiere in Poland last year and our recent win at the South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs), The Water Dancers is heading back to Europe. Starting May 28th, our award-winning documentary will travel across 10 countries and 15 cities in Europe, participating in the Academie des Arts et Techniques du Cinema's invitation-only programme, Les Nuits en Or as well as the International Film Festival Ekotopfilm. Our wonderful director, Robyn Palmer, will accompany the film, participating in live Q&A's through the French and Italian legs of the tour.

Our tour kicks off in Bratislava, Slovakia, where we screen on Tuesday, May 28th at the 45th International Film Festival Ekotopfilm. From Slovakia, we travel to Vienna, Austria, where we have our first screening of Les Nuits en Or. Thereafter, we screen in St. Pölten, Athens, Lisbon, Madrid, Milan, Naples, Rome, Bari, Paris, Luxembourg, Brussels, Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca in June and July. In addition to the European cities, we are also scheduled to premiere in Mexico (Mexico City, Toluca, Tlaxcala, Monterrey and Zapopan) as well as in Montreal, Canada, later this year.

Robyn Palmer - by invitation of the Academie des Arts et Techniques du Cinema - will travel with the film as it screens in Bari, Rome and Paris. Palmer will be accompanied by the directors of the additional 34 selected films from around the globe, all of which have been awarded by their respective film academies (i.e. Oscars, Cesar, BAFTA, SAFTA, etc.). The tour will culminate with a 4-day program in Paris, where The Water Dancers will screen at the UGC Odeon Theater along with live Q&A sessions. Finally, Palmer will represent the film at UNESCO, where she and the other directors will be hosted for the Gala Dinner, under the Chair of the General Director of UNESCO.

The Water Dancers tells a story about striking a balance between increasing human development and environmental conservation. The film is proud to highlight the work being carried out on home soil as a beacon for the world. In an age with so much at stake, it is our prodigious responsibility to pioneer a passage into the future.

Lastly, just a reminder about our impact campaign, #TheSmallThingsMatter that we are launching in the coming months in South Africa. We'll be working with partners and organisations to bring our film and its message to wider audiences at a grassroots level.
