romance

I was one of those girls who thought I'd never get married. I'm not sure what drove this, but I knew I had a lot to accomplish, and while I liked dating, I didn't want to be tied down.

I'd just moved back to El Paso and started a job with the chamber of commerce when some people from my masters program got together for a drink, and I decided to go.

I'll never forget sitting under the Tiffany dome at the Paso del Norte Hotel (a spectacular bar should you be in the area) and seeing a really cute guy across the room. He ended up being a part of our group, and I swear I fell in love that very evening. We were secretly engaged within a couple of months (secretly so we didn't have to explain why we marrying someone we'd just met). Later this year we'll celebrate our 29th wedding anniversary.

They say to write what you know. Love definitely makes it into my novels. The relationships aren't always easy, but I'm a sucker for a happy ending.
