Winter sewing

Hello all you supreme subscribers and welcome to my September newsletter. I finished my Ginger Jeans and have never had such a comfortable pair of jeans before. I'm looking at my RTW ones, wondering if I should put them into the charity bag that's just come through the door :) I share my review of the jeans below, as well as the Guthrie&Ghani workshop where I made them.

We're not quite at winter yet but it's good to get prepared. I introduce my current work in progress - the Eden Coat by Tilly and the Buttons. Scroll down for a sneaky peak.

Ginger Jeans

This has been one of THE most satisfying makes so far. Read my review for the resources I used, fabric and interfacing, all the juicy details on the construction, and how this project has set me on a great path to escaping perfectionism :)

Pattern review

I sewed the jeans on a 2-day weekend workshop at Guthrie&Ghani which was a brilliant experience. Read my review to find out more about the course structure, the venue and where I stayed to make it a mini sewing retreat.

Eden Coat

My current WIP is the Eden Coat by Tilly and the Buttons, sewn on a workshop with Claire Tyler and just needing a few finishing touches now. As if sewing my first wool coat wouldn't be enough of a challenge, I picked some gorgeous checked fabric knowing the pattern matching would take some effort. I definitely learnt a lot and re-cut some pieces for a better result.

The pattern and workshop reviews will follow but in the meantime, please admire this beautiful fabric and pattern matching efforts :)
