WTP seeks to EDUCATE its Members about a

Classical Education CHARTER SCHOOL

in Jackson!

  • The Barney Charter School Initiative (BCSI) is an outreach program of Hillsdale College devoted to the revitalization of public education through the launch and support of classical K-12 charter schools.

  • The Jackson Charter School would open for 2023-2024 school year in a centrally located and renovated building still to be determined.

  • A Jackson Charter Public School would open to K-5th grade with room for 250-300 students as the goal (somewhat dependent on facility) with ultimate goal of 700 students (K-12). ANY student would be accepted up to the limit, and then by a lottery system.

  • A Jackson Charter School would meet the needs of all students according to state laws.

  • A Jackson Charter School Board would oversee the school since JMCSS school board has denied the application.

  • State funding per student would follow the students in the Jackson Charter School, however the JMCSS would not have the expense of educating those students, nor providing a building for the school.

  • Like with any other public school, a Jackson Charter School would be FREE to its students.

What you see below IS the curriculum that would be offered

in our Jackson Charter School.

FINANCIAL REPORT: Our current balance is $300.88. We have no membership 'Dues'. Our attorney has recently advised that being a tax deductible '501' organization, according to new TN law would complicate our existence, therefore we are just a corporation, and NOT a charity. Our plan is to 'spend down' any balance we have by Dec. 31 of each year in order to not have to file a corporate tax return. Your donation at meetings and through PayPal help us build our library, supply business cards for promoting our group, and other needs that arise - such as a projection screen for meetings, a banner, etc. THANKS for your support!
