It is December!!

What a year it has been!  Working through lockdown via telehealth and social media is something we have all had to adapt to. During these challenging times, Southern Music Therapy could not do this without all of your continual support. 

To our past and present clients, the facilities and schools we work with, the local professionals who make referrals to us, and our wonderful supporters and families, Thank you!  In this rapidly changing, fast paced world, we are committed to remaining dynamic, creative, and supportive. 

Here are some important dates for Southern Music Therapy.

• Monday 21st December 2020, last day for therapy sessions.
• 22nd December 2020 - 17th January 2021 SMT office closed.
• Monday 18th January 2021 SMT office open.
• Monday 25th January 2021 - therapy sessions resume.

Cantabrainers Choir finishes on the 16th of December – in line with the Christmas Concert date.

Coming in 2021!! 

We are now available for sessions in Rangiora, Waimakariri and Rolleston.

We will be starting a community music therapy support group for people with dementia and their partners.  Register your interest at info@smt.nz

Did you know our services include focus on children?

Our service has expanded and we are now working with children in schools, preschools and at our clinic base.  Children with generalized anxiety disorders, those who have experienced trauma, or those with ADHD or ASD as well as communication issues or social challenges, are all areas we are equipped and experienced to work with.

Changes to your sessions

If you are wanting to make adjustments to your session in 2021, either change the time, the day, or finish working with SMT please contact your therapist at info@smt.nz.

Accessible Concerts

Kimberley was the music therapist facilitor alongside Saxcess & Julian Raphel in the IHC accessible concerts with Chamber Music New Zealand. This year the project was with Cantabrainers Choir and Hohepa community.

ASD

*** ASD is a newly launched project.  The ASD Girls Band was a hit! We will be continuing this next year. Register your interest for Term 1 2021 at info@smt.nz !
