GROWTH HACKING

it makes sense in cross-border e-commerce!

Dear customer or friend in the world of e-commerce, I am going into my last work week before I take a few weeks off to relax and enjoy the summer. This is a perfect opportunity to kick off our new newsletter and we really hope you will find it to have relevant insights, inspiration and ideas that can help your business succeed abroad!

Right now, my focus is on developing our growth hacking service,  you can read more about this in the newsletter. Bottom line is that competition is increasing and profitable growth abroad requires new tools.

I also hope you all will have a nice holiday ahead of you to enjoy time with family and friends!

All the best,

Max Riis Christensen

Brexit and e-commerce: Short summary of the current situation and scenarios.

  1. Right now, nothing has changed since before the invention of the phrase ‘Brexit’. So currently everything is still business as usual.

  2. There is however a deadline on the 31st October this year. The EU has declared the following three scenarios:

     a. The UK will leave the EU without a deal = Hard Brexit

     b. The UK will leave WITH a deal, content still unknown

     c. The UK will stay as member state in the EU

Growth hacking, is it the way to go?

We've learned that unless you have extraordinary products, prices or delivery terms, you can’t win customers in new countries, by doing the same as your competitors.

The problem is that there are competitors in almost all countries, competitors with skilled employees and lots of experience. To win customers from them, you need to go deeper than just using the main channels we all use (Google shopping, Facebook marketing, etc.).

This is what Growth hacking is all about, or as someone once said to me “Successful growth hacking will often require that you use new marketing channels or find new ways to use your existing channels”.

Our goal is to make our customers succeed abroad and this is why we have developed a growth hacking service that our clients can benefit from.

We combine our extensive experience from launching more than 400 shops in 15 different countries, together with local e-commerce specialists and an optimised version of the growth hacking methodology. These 3 ingredients are used to generate, prioritise and test ideas every month, on behalf of our customers. The successful tests are scaled up together with our clients.

Germany, this is going quite well!

We launched our German services 6 months ago, when we started offering native customer service, translations and, of course, localise shops to the German market and Amazon Germany.

Today we operate 9 shops in Germany. So far we have learned that the market definitely is interesting and it is possible to sell to the Germans. Our volume is increasing at a stable rate, although we still think it is crucial to have a solid and well-thought through marketing strategy, to fulfill the sales expectations.

If you have plans for Germany, we really encourage you to contact us, maybe just for a quick chat about the challenges or maybe to learn more about how MakesYouLocal can help you launch or optimise e-commerce in Germany.

If you don’t sell in Germany yet, but consider it, order a Market Scan and get a clear understanding of the competitive situation.

If you already sell, but the sales figures doesn't meet your expectations, order a Site check and get a complete report with all the improvements needed to sell more.
