"Comparison is the thief of joy"
is one of my favorite quotes.
We tend to find ourselves looking around and not within. There is a lot of outside influence that will make your brain think negative thoughts about your current situation. When you start comparing your life to what other people have, you are giving more energy and “brain space” to others.
Think about it this way… You are the only one that wakes up every morning as you, goes throughout the day and goes to bed at night as you. No one person has the same brain and no one person has the same experience as you. And that is the beautiful thing about this human life.
Be careful of looking outward at what other people are doing and what types of lives they are living. Be careful of being envious of other people's possessions. This is our brain's natural instinct, but it is dangerous. Be acutely aware of comparing yourself to others.
Most of the people post or talk about the great things that are happening to them. What you see on social media is 90% happy times. And I do believe life should be celebrated. But, if you think about life as always having a balance of 50% positive and 50% negative , you can also think that everyone else is also experiencing that 50/50.
So, when you say, “I should have this” or “I should be here” just remember you can create the life you want by looking within. Learn to manage your mind to not compare your journey to anyone else. You are exactly where you are and where you need to be. This should give you power.
We are all meant to have a different life and different life experiences. We are all out here just trying our best in this world. I don’t want to compare myself to anyone else because I already know my life is meant to be different. I invite you to do the same.
