I find November a funny month. I'm not sure what Emily Dickinson meant comparing November to Norway, but I enjoy the ambiguity. Despite what the stores say, it's not yet time to crack out the Holiday decorations but it's winter. We also haven't seen any snow in the Front Range and it's been very warm. So much so that when I fell off my new bike and skinned my knee (like a child), I was wearing shorts so my knee is in a state.
Back to the work. In November I really enjoyed my webinar with Diane Pauley (see below) and it was a great opportunity to revisit some of the fundamentals of what "strategy" actually means. It's a word that's thrown around a lot and somehow means different things to different people. I like the simplest definition: "a plan of action designed to achieve a major aim." But first, you have to know what your aims are, and (spoiler alert), business goals are not the same as marketing goals. This month's color is brown. We hacen't had any serious snow yet in Golden and Denver has recorded its longest period between (spring and fall) snowfalls ever. So it's been pretty brown here and will remain intermittently so until June.
I won't complain too much about hiking in a t-shirt in November though! And snow is on it's way, so December's color will be white, just in time for Christmas.
