So what's it about...?
As I mentioned before, this new series introduces a new sleuthing duo, namely Adam Smith and Francesca Eve, who meet in the most peculiar of circumstances… I'm not going to tell you too much about them, but their relationship is fun, quirky, and a little unconventional, much like Adam himself. Fran is a caterer, and this first adventure sees her preparing dinner for a group of friends at a murder mystery party. The party goes without a hitch… or does it? When the 'victim' on the night dies under mysterious circumstances a week later, it seems as if there might have been something more to the party than just good fun…
Here's the official blurb…
Francesca Eve is always prepared for every disaster during the events she caters for in the pretty little Shropshire village she calls home. But the mysterious death of a party guest leaves her with a bad taste in her mouth – and questions on her mind…
Francesca is nervous about catering her very first murder mystery party, but it’s clear from the clink of champagne flutes and piles of empty plates that the evening is a roaring success. The guests look spectacular in their outfits, whispering and giggling as they try to identify who killed beautiful young Becky. But the game takes a sinister turn when Becky is found poisoned days later, and Fran finds herself centre-stage in a real-life murder mystery. The police are certain it was an accident, but Fran knows her food wasn't t to blame – and that Becky was acting strangely that night. Suspecting foul play, Fran and her eager assistant, Adam, start asking questions around the village, and discover that the role Becky was playing at the party was a little too true to life – and that all her fellow guests had reasons to want her dead. But when the body of a second guest is found, it’s clear a dangerous killer is going off script. It seems anyone who was involved in the game that night is in their sights, even Fran. Unless she can unmask the murderer before the final curtain falls…
A page-turning cozy mystery packed with twists. If you love Clare Chase, Anthony Horowitz, M.C. Beaton and The Thursday Murder Club you’ll absolutely adore this unputdownable whodunnit.
