It's Finally Here...Razor Clam Season!
Growing up on the Oregon Coast I always loved digging razor clams.
As a kid there was something raw and wild about watching a wave come in while my arm was buried in the sand up to my forearm, barely grasping the neck of a clam, not knowing what would happen first - getting drenched by the wave or pulling the clam out of the sand. Today, I’m more skilled at digging clams and win the wave/clam battle more often, but digging a honker clam is every bit as satisfying today as it was years ago.
I haven’t felt that thrill in over a year since the clam season on Clatsop Beach has been closed.
That all changes this weekend.
After a near year long wait, the clam season is officially opening October 1st. That means thousands of people will flock to the beach to dig their limit. For those of you that don’t make it to the Coast or would like to supplement your limit of clams you’re in luck; Bell Buoy is the only licensed wholesale dealer of razor clams in the State of Oregon. We will have whole and cleaned razors ready for you to take home and cook up.
For those coming to the Coast to dig a limit, I'll be the guy with his forearm buried in the sand, playing chicken with the ocean...see you there!
