Meal Deals and Food Offers 

You know that feeling when it's kinda late and you're ready to go home but you're hungry and you don't want to cook? Or worse, you know the fridge is empty? There's another late night meal option at Ramada's Gardenia Coffee Shop. On Friday and Saturday night you can hit a late night buffet there, from midnight to 3.30am, with a selection of late night comfort food or early breakfast options, costing Rs2,700.

ME Colombo have had a few High Tea offers but this latest looks like it is going to be the best. A three tier platter with a crispy chicken burger, burrito, veggie spring roll, coconut shrimp, truffles, a date and ginger pudding; all for Rs3,900 for two people. Wow! It's available daily from 3.00pm to 5.00pm.

With Children's Day this coming Saturday, la Creme have created an amazing treat for the kids for mark the occasion and it's something special. Do they like pizza? Do they like ice cream? So how about this: a Bubblegum Ice Cream Pizza! It's available Saturday only and must preordered, costing Rs3500.

How about a free crepe? Sweet Vibes have a deal buy any two signature food items and get a basic crepe for free. This offer is valid until 31 October.

Drinks Deals

Floor by O reopened a couple of weeks ago and they have now finalised their happy hour, which is Friday and Saturday from 5.00pm to 7.30pm. it's on local beer and bottles and selected cocktails.

There's another newly reintroduced happy hour at The Station, Monday to Friday, 5.00pmm to 7.00pm with a 1 for 1 deal on selected cocktails

There's a new Happy Hour at On14, the rooftop bar at the Radisson, , with a buy one get one free offer on selected beers, whiskeys, spirits and signature cocktails. The offer is available from 7.00pm to 9.00pm weekdays and from 6.00pm to 8.00pm at weekends.

The Naughty Bottomless Brunch is back at Love Bar on Sunday, with Rs4000 for unlimited wine or beer, 12 midday to 5.00pm. For entertainment, there's live music by The Rugrats and DJs Henricus and Sash will be on the decks.

And we found another Oktoberfest, this at Galle Face Hotel on Friday and Saturday, with an extensive grill menu of German and international favourites, live music, and of course a selection of beers, beer pitchers, beer towers and beer cocktails.

Live Music and DJs

There's once again a lot of music going on this weekend. The big gigs kick off on Friday with "Interstellar" on Friday at Excel World with four top artists performing with Infinity.

On Saturday, "Mosh Scream Rock XV" has five metal bands on stage, while "Life and City" has three performers and three bands, and "Amplify" has three performers with OiC. So much choice!

And there's more next week! On Friday 7 October, "Bloc Party" at Independence Arcade has Chitral, Supun, Kanchana, Dinesh & Adithya.

On Saturday 8 October Saturday, the "Rocktober Sessions volume 1" features metal legends Stigmata playing at Darley Road, with support of cameos by Sevexth, Ashen Sandaru and Sanjeev Niles.

Also next Saturday, Slipping Chairs are playing their last reunion gig of the year, with Infinity and Naadro at Asylum's space at Arcade Independence Square.

Over the next few weeks many bands are playing at the Oktoberfest events around town, so if you are in the mood for some live music, keep an eye on our Gig Guide.

There's a lot of DJ party nights coming up too. This Friday 30th, Hellfire features both international and local DJs. On Saturday 1 October, "1001" features some top DJs Ultra, Echo Daft and Dr Green, with support, at Zouk.

Next week, on Friday, "Groove is in the the Heart" is a gathering of twenty DJs; yes you read that right, twenty DJs who will be sharing the decks at Cinnamon Lakeside for an evening arranged by the Ceylon Disc Jockeys' Association.

Next Saturday, "Mystery Land" at the Lotus Tower features seven of the top DJs: Jayy Vibes, Ultra, A-jay, Echo Daft, Noiyse Project, Kotto & Dr Green.

The following week, "Void" features Subandrio, Jayy Vibes and seven further DJs at Zouk.

And a heads-up to classic music fans: the Symphony Orchestra of Sri Lanka have a performance on 22 October at the Wendt Theatre where they will be performing works by Dvorak, Bach, Bruch & Chopin.

Other Events

F1 fans, other than by the track itself, is there anywhere better to watch the Singapore Formula One than at Asylum with DIMO and the Mercedes-Benz Club of Sri Lanka? You'll get to enjoy specially created bites, treats, cocktails and bottle deals? There's also a chance to see a display of the Mercedes-Benz collection and there will be some special giveaways.  

With Children's Day this Saturday, there's lots more activities and deals for kids this weekend. Do your kids like dinosaurs? I did when I was young. If they are then the Dinosaur Experience at Colombo City Centre sounds like fun: with dinosaurs, hear them roar, dig for fossils and more. It's happening on Saturday and Sunday, there's three sessions each day and it is absolutely essential to book in advance.

This Children's Day, Chinese Dragon are offering free face painting, games and toys; Excel World has a range of kid' activities; and on Sunday 2 October, The Garden Fusion Cafe is offering a free kid's meal to kids under 15, between 4.00pm and 7.00pm.

This Friday 30 September we welcome back House of Grace's Open Mic which will be at Caffe by Giovanni's in Nawala from 7.00pm.

And some good news to fans of Balinese Spa treatments: Pegasus Reef in Wattala is opening their new Balinese Spa this Saturday 01 October.
