We are easing into the best season for riding with clear blue skies, perfect temperatures, and hopefully less dust. So, make sure your bikes are ready for this optimal time of the year (we’re here to help). 🔥 Demo Fleet Sale On September 6 (the day after Labor Day), we will put all bikes in our 2022 demo fleet on sale at 10 am (do not be late). These bikes have been ridden as rentals for the last two seasons but still have loads of life left in them. Before sale, we tune each one up and evaluate a going price based on wear and tear. If you’re looking for a new bike, this is the best time of the season to get a bargain. We recommend showing up early because, in the past, lines have formed outside the shop in the wee hours of the morning. Bikes will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis, and it is required that each bike be purchased in full the day of (not all bikes will be available to take home immediately). If you rented a bike from us in the last year, you can subtract the cost of your rental for up to four days from a demo bike purchase (given that you rented for four or more days). |

Dirty Freehub Update 🗺 Skyline Forest is currently closed due to wildfire concerns. We have our fingers crossed it reopens this fall (before closing during the winter and early spring for elk migration). This ginormous chunk of forest—that’s now for sale—has been a hot topic of local debate over the last several months. If you want to help save this lovely place to ride, now is the time to get involved. We’ve partnered with Deschutes Land Trust and Central Oregon Land Watch to be part of the solution. We highly recommend that you donate, volunteer, or at least read up on what they are doing to protect Skyline Forest. They both offer updated information via newsletters. Dirty Freehub is an online guide for five-star gravel bike routes across the Western US (that Blazin Saddles supports). With over 10,000 miles of curated gravel bike routes, we also have the mission of connecting gravel cyclists to where they ride. We are funded by our kind sponsors and 300+ cyclists who have donated. (Here's how you can donate!) |

COTA August Update ⛏ From COTA Trail News - August: Sisters Chapter Update: Things are starting to get busy in Sisters! For starters, we are going to begin the first steps toward the major overhaul of Bike Park 242 that we have been working on all year. We have already begun purchasing and storing material, and we are planning the first phases of building later this month. |

Bend Chapter Update: Hopefully you’ve heard the news that logging work in Phils has paused for the heat of summer, so trails around Lower Whoops, with the exception of Storm King between Phils and FS 4615, are open again. Mowing is completed around the Welcome Center, so those trails are open for the season. Weekday closures of Funner and Tiddlywinks are still in effect. The SCOR collective (people of our newest bike brand that’s creating a lot of noise) took a trip through British Columbia and made a video of their adventures. Take a watch to see what this fun-first-oriented brand wants a mountain biking adventure to be: |
|
|
Like any great quest, this one begins with a group of heroes tackling a momentous challenge; the SCOR Collective have embarked on a journey from their respective homelands in Europe to the epicenter of mountain biking. Forging their own path through British Columbia’s Sea to Sky corridor, this rag tag team of riders with disparate styles and skillsets gives you access to a world of a road trip gone both wrong and oh-so-right. No quest is complete without the help of locals and intrepid travelers found along the way, as the crew links up with Squamish granite grip enthusiasts and Chilcotin chamois connoisseurs. From grisly rides to grizzly bears, this odyssey is guaranteed to bring a smile to your face and some sweat to your palms. |

A former road pro, Giant ambassador Sule Kangangi now primarily focuses on racing gravel and off-road events around the world. The Migration Gravel Race— a 650km, four-stage gravel race through the plains, rivers and mountains of Maasai Mara, Kenya—is an especially important event on Sule’s calendar. Not only a top competitor, through his coordinator role with the Amani Project, Sule has helped to bring international cycling talent and public awareness to the race and East African cycling, more broadly. In a similar vein to how we ended last month’s Roundup, we are crossing all crossable body parts that no drastic amount of Central Oregon trees are gone because of fire by the next time you hear from us. Thanks for sticking with us, it’s always a pleasure meeting you here, and we hope to see you in the shop or the trails checking out some of the goodness you hear about here. See you there, The Blazin Saddles Crew Live to Ride Ride to Live |
