Premix fuel: We closed fishing season before official notice – Volta fishermen

 

Emmanuel Anomoo Tettey, Public Relations Officer for Volta Region fishermen has called on government to ensure regular supply of premix fuel to fishers during the next fishing season.

 

He said though the month-long closed season for artisanal and semi-industrial fishers was taking effect from July 1, many fishing crews in the region stopped going on fishing expeditions weeks ago due to scarcity of premix fuel.

Shippers Authority holds Exporters Forum to boost sectors fortunes

 

The Ghana Shippers’ Authority (GSA) as part of efforts to boost the nation’s export drive has held its annual Exporters Forum to discuss issues in the sector to come up with ideas, programs and plans to better the operations of stakeholders

 

The event held at Ghana Shippers’ House in Accra on 30th June 2022 saw exporters and state agencies deliberate on matters of mutual concern in order to forge stronger alliances to increase export volumes.

Navy: Complacency, lack of critical thinking led to Red Hill spill

 

A command investigation released by the U.S. Navy on Friday - just ahead of a long holiday weekend - details a series of substantial errors in the months leading up to the disastrous fuel spill at the Red Hill Bulk Fuel Storage Facility in Honolulu, which ultimately led to the site's closure. 

 

The Red Hill Bulk Fuel Storage Facility is a unique asset. Between 1940-43, the Department of War carved 20 giant tanks out of a solid basalt ridge outside Honolulu, then connected them by pipeline to the piers at Pearl Harbor.

Jordan dismisses port officials over deadly chorine gas accident

 

A preliminary investigation into the deadly chlorine gas release at the port of Aqaba has found that it was caused by "lack of conformity" of the crane's load rating with the weight of the cargo. The wire rope was rated at 8.5 tonnes, Faraya said, and it managed to hoist four 25-tonne containers of chlorine from the pier to the ship in a row without incident. On the fifth container, the wire rope parted and the tank dropped onto the deck of the ship. The resulting release of gas killed 13 people.
