York County Library Prepares for Coronavirus (Covid-19) York County Library is monitoring the coronavirus (COVID-19) with local, state, and national health officials. For the safety of our patrons and staff, York County Library will follow the same closure mandate as the public schools. All York County Library locations will be closed Monday, March 16, through Tuesday, March 31. * All Library bookdrops will be closed. No fines will be charged for items, including HotSpots, due during these closings. HotSpots will remain functional. * All York County Library programs from March 16 through March 31 are canceled. This includes the use of meeting rooms by outside groups and organizations. * Friends Books on Main will be closed at least until Thursday, April 2. * All information subject to change. Visit the Library – From Home! During our Library closing, let our Virtual Library and a YCL card bring the Library to you! You'll find resources, learning tools, and even movies, TV, music, audio/e-books, and magazines! And our Research, Self-Publishing, and Online Learning pages feature these new tools and more: - DigitalLearn.org: Courses for technology trainers and using computers, the Internet, and more, with short videos, activities, and handouts.

- South Carolina residents without a Library Card can get DISCUS database access at www.SCDISCUS.org. If prompted for a password, enter discus2020 as your username and learn1! as your password.
- Hoopla checkouts will increase to 8 borrows until April 30 for all YCL cardholders.
- For those accessing Brainfuse, our online tutoring service, all tutors and sessions will continue to be available. HelpNow users can study with classmates online using the MEET feature. MEET is an easy-to-use tool where patrons simply invite participants, choose a date and time, add an optional description, and then create the study session through the Brainfuse whiteboard.

Underexposed Film Festival at the York County Library Please Note: The 2020 Underexposed Film Festival (UFF yc) has been postponed from March 25-28 to a later date. This international, independent short film festival, held in Rock Hill, SC, focuses its attention on encouraging, nurturing, and supporting the creativity and vision of independent filmmakers, and providing a forum where their work can be viewed. This is the first year that the festival will have films for children and teens. York County Library is proud to serve as a host site for the Arts Council of York County’s Underexposed Film Festival. Blessing Box Donations “Give What You Can, Take What You Need” The Main Library (Rock Hill) welcomes donations for the Blessing Box. The most appreciated items include canned food with ring-pulls, crackers, non-perishable foods, bottled water, and small snacks. Please drop them off at the Circulation desk during Library operating hours only. Special thanks to Girl Scout Troop #1642 for the Blessing Box! Don't forget our Blessing Boxes at our Clover and Lake Wylie Libraries! |

Get Help: Tax Forms and Tax Preparation Assistance All YCL locations and the YCL website will provide a handout with information on locating tax forms and sites that assist with tax preparation. Some locations will also host sessions for income tax assistance from AARP or SC Thrive. These sessions will be available during Library operating hours only. |
