As the air cools, the colors warm. We are in the middle of things. We are between eclipses. We are mid-moon phase. We are in the slow transition from summer to winter. The veil between the worlds is thinning and the ancestors are present. There is heaviness, there are rumblings, and a tense energy accumulates in the world. Here are some things I am offering, in the spirit of softening our own edges around the density of our times. May we cultivate strong taproots from the peaceful center of ourselves, so that we can remain grounded in love, harmony and the strength of mutual care. Peace is a medicine of Autumn. Happy season of the witch, sweet community! |

Water to Bone: An ancestral journeying ceremony this SUNDAY October 29! Attend online from home (or anywhere) and pay what you can! In honor of the Samhain portal and the thinning veil between the worlds, I will be offering a special ancestral journeying experience on Sunday, October 29 from 11am-Noon. This is essentially a form of guided meditation and visualization, with some drumming. It is also a ceremonial practice of connecting with special ancestors and animal guides, and it comes directly from my ancestry in ancient Ireland. I call it the "Water to Bone" ancestral journey. I am offering this one online only so as to make it available to the larger community of family and friends around the world—and also because this is a beautiful chance to create and/or spend time with your own home altar. nI hopes of making this accessible to all who are interested in joining, I'm offering it on a sliding scale. Just pay what you can (suggested donation of between $11 - $33, but no money exchange is required). RSVP required to get the Zoom link.

Honoring grief... “Grief and love are sisters, woven together from the beginning. Their kinship reminds us that there is no love that does not contain loss and no loss that is not a reminder of the love we carry for what we once held close.”― Francis Weller, The Wild Edge of Sorrow I'm honored to be offering a somatic grief practice at NorthFork 53 in November, as part of a day-long grief workshop with a lovely group of facilitators. The event is sold out with a waiting list, but we will likely hold others in the future.
I wanted to share that I also offer this somatic grief work one-on-one, or to small groups, (in person or via Zoom) by appointment. It's a simple mind-body-heart practice I was taught, that involves noticing and being with our hearts, our emotions, and our grief as they present themselves physically in the body. We breathe, move the body, and incorporate vocal sounds to connect around what is present within us. Please reach out if you are interested in this. In one of my other hats, as a writer/editor/journalist, I recently wrote an article about community grief ritual. If you'd like to read it, here it is published on CounterPunch (you can find it on a number of other outlets, too). Sending love to all as we connect with our grief, our hearts, and our emotional bodies this season.

A new time for Sunday night YinYasa yoga in November! A new time for Sunday night YinYasa yoga beginning in November! Sunday evening YinYasa at Yoga Roots in Manzanita has been beautiful the last couple of months & I plan to keep it going as long as you'll keep coming... As the days darken earlier and earlier, I am scooting this class back an hour. The new time will be 5:15pm-6:45pm beginning in November. Thanks to all who have come with your whole hearts to this special class! On certain weeks when we're lucky, Jesse comes to serenade our crew with handpan sounds during the yin/savasana portions of class (and a little bird tells me he'll be there next week). Hope to see you Sunday evenings!

A Pause for Friday Morning Yoga at St. Catherine's Church Our Friday morning yoga in Nehalem is CANCELLED this week, October 27 due to church maintenance. We will remain paused during November and December, and reconvene for this class in the new year.
If you have a class pass that you planned to use for Friday mornings in the next two months & would like a reimbursement, just let me know (remember that you can use your pass to attend YinYasa on Sunday nights if you'd like and that class is not pausing). I love bringing this active, powerful, primal yoga practice to our community & I plan to breathe new life into this class and several other yoga offerings, workshops, events, and spaces that I'm a'brewing for 2024! More on that to come... Hope to see you for our Samhain "Water to Bone" Ancestral Journey next week, for readings, and in yoga classes!

Couples: I love to offer couples yoga in which we bring some partner poses into the mix, and some special practices that help the two of you center into your hearts and your loving connection. And/or I can bring yoga, catered to your needs and preferences, to your pre-numptual events.
