Have you watched or read any of these comps? I love Buffy and her Scooby gang. In Project Shadows, Nori gets her own gang (or Found Family, if you like that trope). When I started working on this project, the first comp that came to mind was Grimm. My idea was, What if the main character is visually impaired, but she can see things others can't? This is why I immediately thought of Nick on Grimm. |

If you haven't seen Grimm, I highly recommend it! Nick can see Wesen (pronounced Ves-en) because he's a Grimm. On the show, Wesen are creatures visible to the Grimm. So I started with how the main character, Nori, could somehow see supernatural creatures who hide in the shadows from humans and went from there. So what's new? I've been working a lot on Project Shadows this month. Because I made some changes to episode one, I also had to go back and redo the rest of the series outline too. This has taken me longer than expected because I got a bit stuck. But eventually, this month, I finally wrote over 14,000 words of episode one (or book one). I am still deciding if it will be a series or an episodic serial. |

While working on redoing some things, I saw a mask on Pinterest, which gave me an idea. So in episode one, there's a masquerade on Halloween where something significant happens to Nori. I plan to start working on episode two soon. Right now (and this might change), I plan to finish all the episodes/books before going back to revise them. I'll revise an episode and then send it to my critique partners. As they read over an episode, I'll revise the next one. Once I revise all episodes after getting feedback from my critique partners, I'll do a round of beta readers. Since I last updated you, the blurb for episode one has changed. Please remember it's a rough draft and subject to change. Also, it's only part of the full blurb. I'm still working on the last portion of it, but I wanted to share this with you. |

Episode/Book One Blurb While attending her dream university, visually impaired Nori gets a strange message with proof that her parents’ deaths were not an accident. To get answers, she must decide if she’ll join a secret society that hunts supernatural beings, whether they're evil or not. But before Nori can decide, she witnesses a grotesque creature kill her sister. With her last breath, Nori's sister begs her to hide an antique bracelet that the secret society desperately seeks. Confused by strange things she's seeing and desperate to find answers, Nori is thrown into the middle of a centuries old battle between the hunters and supernaturals. What do you think? Something that's helped me get back into the story and writing is listening to music as I write. In no particular order, here are some of the songs I have on my playlist so far.
