NOTICE: Monthly Meetings will resume on September 13th; We now meet the 2nd Tues of the month from 5:15-7 at the new AIH at 8801 Old Seward Hwy.  It’s in the mall at the corner of the Old Seward Hwy and Diamond Blvd. We meet in their training center.

Master woodworker, furniture designer and owner of Blackstone Designs, Mark Wedekind, will be teaching two classes in October.  Mark was recently featured in the Jan/Feb 2022 issue of  “Woodworker West” magazine.  He has been creating custom furniture in Alaska since moving here in 1994.    

 

In the first class we will mill the wood necessary to build the custom designed stool below.  The second class will be actual construction of the stool.   Sign up on the website for this amazing opportunity to create a beautiful piece of furniture. 

New Program: WOODWORKING WEDNESDAYS HAS BEEN LAUNCHED!:  

Larry, Holman, Jim Powell, Gino DelFrate and Sandy Mckinnis have volunteered to staff our shop area each Wednesday to help folks with projects. We have all the Wednesday’s covered from May through August.  If this program is popular we will continue it through next year.  You need to sign up on the website as we can only have a maximum of 4 students in the shop on each date.

 

Classes

Held Saturdays, and some Sundays, from 10-4p.m. at the Alaska Industrial Hardware Store at 5655 Old Seward Hwy. in Anchorage

The ACWC board met and have a tentative list of classes for the upcoming 2022-2023 year.  Classes will run 2-3 times per month from Sept to May.  INSTRUCTORS NEEDED for next season’s weekend classes, Sept to May 2023.  Share your knowledge and expertise with others by teaching a class.

INSTRUCTORS NEEDED:

Instructors needed for the following classes:  Hall shoe storage, rocking chair, outdoor furniture, flower boxes, jointery, Christmas presents/toys to donate, clock, lamp, and a George Nelsen slatted platform bench…..OR ANYTHING YOU WANT TO TEACH!!!   Contact: Sandy McKinnis @ 562-3994 or akspeech@mtaonline.net.
