NEWS FROM DR. REID

Dear St. Patrick Families,

The summer is almost over, and we have been busy preparing for your return. This Saturday, August 13th, is our school Beautification Day from 10am – 12pm. Please join us! On Tuesday, August 16th we will host our Open House. During this time, you will be able to visit our classrooms and meet the teachers. This is a drop-in event. Families with last names A-L will attend between 1:00pm and 2:00pm, and families with last names M-Z will attend between 2:00pm and 3:00pm. PTO will have tables set up in the cafeteria with information to join different committees along with volunteer opportunities. The Shamrock Shop will also be open to purchase gently used uniforms as well as the Spirit Store to purchase school swag.

On Wednesday, August 17th we welcome all our 1st through 5th graders and staggered entry begins for our kindergarten students.

As a reminder, dismissal is at 2:40pm. Cars will enter the school from Pierce Street and loop around the blacktop (the playground is not available during carpool). Please make sure your yellow placard is displayed on your windshield (you will receive this at Open House). All students must be picked up in carpool by 3:00pm. Walkers will be dismissed out the side door by the Family Life Center after afternoon prayers.

Additionally, please familiarize yourself with the dress code and student use of technology (watches, cell phones) which are in the Parent/Student Handbook.

We are excited for a new school year! See you soon.

God's Blessings,

Dr. Alicia Reid

WALKER DISMISSAL PROCEDURE

If your child will be a walker this year at any point, be sure to select "walker" as one of the options on our Online Form (below).  This form states that your family must live within walking distance of the school (no more than 1 mile away) and as parents you understand that your child will be escorted out of the building and expected to walk home without supervision. For safety reasons we will not allow students to be walkers if you do not live within a reasonable walking distance of the school, no more than one mile.

Walkers will still continue to enter the gym in the morning as in years past. In the afternoon, walkers will be released out the door nearest the first grade classrooms which exits near the Family Life Center. A staff member will walk students to the Family Life Center area at which point they will continue to walk home.  If a parent will meet the child to walk with them, they should plan to meet their child on the sidewalk between the church rectory and the Family Life Center. Families will not be permitted to play on the playground after school due to carpool traffic.  Parking is not permitted in the rectory parking lot under any circumstance.

Kindergarteners will begin the school year on a staggered entry schedule. Please see the schedule below.
