Welcome to this week's update on Colombo's meal deals, drinks offers, music and events. Apologies for deleting and resending the mail this week due to a technical glitch in a couple of links. Hope it did not cause too much inconvenience - though we have now fixed the links! This week we found a some new lunch deals and several new happy hours. There's also a new restaurant opened, a new adventure park in the city, and one of our favourite snacks is back. With Thursday being a holiday, Wednesday became busier than normal this week. But there's more events for the weekend still being announced even today and doubtless still more to come, so we're unlikely to find ourselves bored! Breakfast and Lunch If you want a breakfast that is substantial but not excessive, you can try Life's Good Kitchen in Kasapa Road, Colombo 5. They have a selection of eggs, bagels and more and are open from 9am. We found a few new lunch deals this week. The Karnivore have a choice of four fried rice Executive Lunch packs; egg or veggie from Rs450, chicken fro m Rs500 or pork from Rs550. These are available for takeaway or delivery. Momo also have a selection of classic Kesel Kole Bath lunches with three curries and usual accompaniments. Available with fish for Rs350, chicken for Rs375 or pork for Rs400. Chinese Dragon have also introduced a "Dragon 123" pack featuring a buffalo chicken wing, a hot butter prawn, hot butter cuttlefish and samba rice, for Rs399. Available delivery or takeaway only, for lunch or dinner. Papa's Treats often have some great value fast food deals but they have a couple of Yellow Rice Lunch Deals too. Fried chicken, curry, salad and yellow rice for Rs400, or chicken curry, egg, salad and yellow rice for Rs300. These are available for dine-in, takeaway or delivery from 12.00 to 3.00pm daily. If burgers are more your style, then Classic Lounge have a number of deals available. We recently tried the burger and chicken popcorn combo: three burgers (we went for chicken but there are a few available), 2 mango shakes, 1 fries and a portion of chicken popcorn for Rs2099; there's an similar two burgers and one shake for Rs1420. We enjoyed it, the burgers were good and the chicken popcorn is a nice addition. On Thursday, Thali's will have their regular Poya Day vegetarian buffet. It's available from 11am to 3pm, priced at Rs1500 and kids under 8 eat free. | | |

High Tea and Dinner: Congratulations to The Garden Lounge who have just opened a new branch in Nawala. Their rooftop lounge in Pelawatte has great cocktails and food, which we have enjoyed several times, so we are looking forward to trying this this new garden location soon! One of our favourite snacks is back! Aoba's stall outside their restaurant at One Galle Face is back, with classic Japanese takoyaki and taiyaki snacks. If you haven't tried them yet, you're missing a treat! High Tea seems to be becoming ever more popular with a wide choice of packets, buffets and platters available. One of the earlier high teas was offered by Mitsi's and it is available again. It includes six savoury items, a hot or cold drink, and two slices of their home baked cake. It's available in the restaurant from 2pm to 7pm, reservations are required. How do you like the sound of "unlimited Chinese food"? That's what you can enjoy this Friday or Saturday only, at a "Bluffet" at Chinese Dragon Rajagiriya. What is a Bluffet? Well, it's like a buffet but instead of going and taking food from the buffet table, you order it from a special menu so each dish freshly prepared for you. Their "Bluffet" menu includes favourites like chicken & sweetcorn soup, vegetable spring rolls. noodles with hot butter cuttlefish and fruit salad with ice cream; so it's basically a set menu but you can order again and again. Have you missed dinner cruises? Looking for something to do this evening? Garton's Ark have a special Dinner Cruise tonight, an international buffet and a two hour cruise. They will also have a special lunch cruise on 21st November. Cinnamon Red have reopened after a long time and have just restarted their evening dinner buffet in their Flavoured restaurant. It's available daily from 7.00pm to 10.30pm priced Rs2,800 per person. And a reminder that, throughout next week, Clements Restaurant will offer an "all you can eat" deal for Rs1500. This will be available a la carte, for dine-in at the restaurant only. | | |

Happy Hours & Ladies' Night We found a few new, or returned, happy hours this week. The Helediv Tea Club have introduced a happy hour, from 5.30pm to 7.30pm daily. This includes beer by the glass, pitcher or tower, selected shots, and selected cocktails by the glass or pitcher. Their cocktails include a range of signature tea-based cocktails. The Bayleaf have brought back their happy hour, from 5pm to 7pm, Sunday to Thursday with offers on selected cocktails and other drinks. There's a new happy hour at Chili's at One Galle Face. They are offering buy two, get one free on a selection of drinks, from 5pm to 7pm, Monday to Friday. The Barnesbury has a happy hour specially for ladies, on Tuesdays from 5pm to 7pm where there is a buy one get one free offer on selected drinks. | | |

Live Music and DJs With no music on Thursday, it being a Poya Day, a lot happened on Wednesday instead. But Friday is back to normal. All the gigs are listed on our Live Music page - but the highlights this week are: On Friday, Black will be back at the Curve Bar and Cold Sweat will be at SunsetBlu. Magic Box Mixup will be at a new venue, Allstar; it's great to see new places hosting bands, so let's give them some support! Also on Friday, Mirage will be back at The Irish, Silk will be at Asylum for Feelgood Friday and Darley Road will be hosting The Kingdom. There's not so many gigs on Saturday - but some more may still be announced; it is only Thursday! Warehouse Project will be at Curve Bar, OiC will be at SunsetBlu and for something acoustic, Kani Trio will be at Playtrix and Barstool Prophecy will be at Drunk Panda. DJ Neco will be on the decks at Level4 on Friday and Saturday. On Friday night, Drunk Panda are hosting "Reconnect" with three DJs: Jayy Vibes, Yedikule and Chiruka. And we've seen music combined with dance, and magic combined with comedy but how about music combined with a magic show? That's what Magic Banda will be doing, a combination of music and magic, at Cuisine Colombo on Friday from 7.30pm. | | |

Other Events We're excited to see another new place opening in Colombo this week: an adventure park! Yes, Hexa Adventure Park is opening on Sunday, offering "adventure in the city", a range of activities including wall climbing, zip lining, rappelling, archery and air rifle shooting. Hexa is located at Pagoda Road in Nawala and opens at 9.00am on Sunday. See you there? This weekend the usual markets will there, come rain or shine: Good Market at the Race Course and CAN market at One Galle Face. On to virtual events and it's a fairly quiet week again. There's an international webinar discussing Interview Skills, which may be useful to anyone who is job hunting; that's on Friday at 12.30. On Sunday, there's the next in an ongoing discussion of The Future of the Fashion Business. This week Lonali Rodrigo, CEO of House of Lonali, wil be sharing her views and insights. And on Monday, the ECCSL are hosting a discussion of the National Budget 2022 where a panel of experts will be sharing their analysis of the budget. This is at 4pm and is free.
