Cleaning Schedule + meditations for the christian woman

Luke 2:19 - But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.

Sunday - Laundry/Bathrooms

1 Timothy 5:10 - and is well known for her good deeds, such as bringing up children, showing hospitality, washing the feet of the Lord's people, helping those in trouble and devoting herself to all kinds of food deeds.

Today is the day to focus on all of the characteristics listed in a godly widow, as the introduction to our week. Being our "end goal" as a Christian woman, this needs to be our focus as we begin our week in order to plan with an end in mind. As I scrub the toilets, I am reminded to take special care to wash the entire outside and refill guest toilet paper and soaps in order to be prepared for any unexpected hospitable moment. This is my day to prepare to serve anyone who may enter my home for the rest of the week, as well as pray over how I can devote myself to whatever good that I can. By preparing the restrooms and guest accommodations in my home the first day, I start off my week by setting my sights on how I can better serve those around me. I set my vision Sunday on the kind of woman I yearn to become and then work diligently every day thereafter to fulfill this godly role.

Regardless if you already have a different cleaning schedule that works better for your family, all of these chores listed are usually done weekly in any home. Therefore, the following meditations that coincide with the daily chores I list as an example are still applicable for you, woman of God. I highly encourage you to memorize these verses throughout your daily cleaning in order for you to be reminded of our purpose here set by our One True Father.

Monday - Yard Work

John 15:2 - He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.

Notice how the brown leaves sometimes don't pull off, since they have strong root systems? Sometimes, people have strong roots in their families due to customs and practices passed down from religious ancestors. They, themselves, have no life in them, since they have no personal relationship with God. They're dead, and their roots are all that remain. But once those roots shrivel too, nothing will be left. Notice how sometimes you go to pull these dead leaves that are hanging on by their roots and instead, bright green leaves come out on accident? Sometimes people can give the appearance of being fully alive, and close with God, but don't be deceived. They have no roots in the Word, and they will be plucked away with the dead people around them.

Tuesday - Dusting

Ecclesiastes 3:20 - All go to the same place; all come from dust, and to dust all return.

As you wipe off all of the dead skin cells from the week, remember that that is all you are. All you are is dust. Do not exalt yourself this week by deceiving yourself that you may be in control of anything or that you deserve any sort of recognition for your work. Do not be proud of anything that is obtained through dust. We are nothing. Only Jesus Christ our Lord deserves our glory and our recognition. He is the only one in control. Don't forget from where you came. Struggling with age or illness? This body is constantly decaying and dying. It will do what it's going to do - die. But though this body be but dust and will eventually die, nothing can kill you. Your soul lives through Christ forever. So, let your joints ache and let what illness is to come come, because this body is destined for the Pit. From the ground it came and to the ground it will go. You will live forever.

Wednesday - Car Clean Out

Matthew 28:19 - Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Notice how Jesus uses the word "go" in this command. How do we all "go" from one place to another in this modern age? Yup - with our cars. This command now transforms our car from something that defines us - our salary, our favorite color, our sports team logo embroidered on the steering wheel, whether we have a "baby on board," etc. - into something that the Lord is using as our modern-age tool to minister His grace unto the nations. As you clean out your car this week, whatever day that may be, ask God to put on your heart who He wants you to minister to this week. Does someone need a dinner brought to them, laundry done for them, a house cleaned for them, kids watched, a loving hug, groceries brought to them, etc? Today, there is no shortage of heaviness in our world. Sickness and death is unfortunately affecting all of us right now. I am confident that the Lord has someone for you to use this blessing, this vehicle of ministry, to spread His love on this week. Keep it clean and orderly as a reflection of His glory and consider who God could be wanting to use you to spread the Gospel to this week.

Thursday - Vacuum/Mop floors

John 13:14 - Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another's feet.

Today, our focus is brought back home to serving our own family. As Jesus washed the disciples' feet, we are also commanded to wash the feet of our brothers and sisters in Christ as well. Who of your family - by marriage, by blood, or by faith - needs your service this week? As a Christian, it is our God-given duty to serve, and so today is the perfect day to pray for the Lord to put on our heart who needs our care-taking this week. Maybe it's our husbands. We can pray and ask how we can better serve our husbands, or how the Christ who lives inside of us can better bless others around us this week by our willingness to serve. Look at your dirty mop water or mop pad, and consider what pollution in the lives around you needs cleaning this week? What pollution are you letting reside in your own heart that you need to pray to the Lord for help to clean? Could it be a need to forgive or ask for forgiveness from someone? Could it be a bitter or angry spirit in your heart that the Lord is convicting of you today? Give these pollutions over to the Father. Consider these points to prompt you to ask the Father where you can better serve your community of believers this week.

Friday - Laundry/Preparation Day

Exodus 16:23 - He said to them, "This is what the LORD commanded: 'Tomorrow is to be a day of Sabbath rest, a holy Sabbath to the LORD. So bake what you want to bake and boil what you want to boil. Save whatever is left and keep it until morning.'"

Use this day as a beautiful opportunity to cook and bake all day long with the family. Clean out the fridge of whatever is turning and put all of the random ingredients into a frittata for breakfast today and tomorrow. Grab as many groceries and ingredients as possible to cook whatever you can for an all-day family event. Get the kids in the kitchen mixing and helping, too. Turn on some music for kitchen dancing! The Lord gave us this food and these people to take care of us and enjoy. Give thanks to the Lord for the bounty He has given to you in life and love. Enjoy the blessings He has put into your life. Throughout your day, consider to yourself, "What all can I do today to provide me as much rest for tomorrow as possible?"

Saturday - Sabbath

Hebrews 4:9 - There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God;

Enjoy this holy day from God to reflect on the work of this week. Give thanks for the blessings of family and provision around you. Sleep in, lay in a hammock and take many naps, eat leftovers, recharge, and praise Him for the freedom that He provides His people from the "rat race." God doesn't want us to run ourselves ragged trying to provide more for ourselves since in reality, He is the only provider. Don't worry about tomorrow today. Don't work towards any goal or achievement for yourself. Rest in the Lord's will over your life. As a Christian, we need this reset with the Lord to be reminded of the freedom that we have with being the Lord's servant. He has freed us from the chains of this world, including the chains of death. He wants us to ENJOY this life that He's given us, so He's faithfully provided every meal every day, peace, and safety without fail this week. Don't miss this opportunity to put everything aside to enjoy the family and blessings that He has bestowed upon you. You may need to train yourself to rest at first, but you definitely won't regret it. Ask yourself, "Did I meet my goal of the godly widow from 1 Timothy 5:10 that I set for myself this week?"
