NEWS FROM DR. REID

Dear St. Patrick Families,

Thank you for all the hard work assembling the 5th grade gift from the class of 2022. The picnic tables and bench are very much appreciated. In fact, the current 5th grade students are starting to think about what gift they will give to the school.

We had many Picture Book Pumpkins created. Here are just a few of the creative designs from our students.

You may or may not know that the Cathedral is currently closed due to renovations. We will have Mass in the Family Life Center in the Chapel. We are dividing up the classes due to space limitations. Fifth grade will go with their prayer partners, kindergarten, starting on Friday, 10/14/22 at our regular time at 8:30am. I am asking that we remain consistent, and students continue to wear their Mass uniforms on Fridays. As of right now there is no date of completion for the renovations and the service will not be live streamed.

For the students who will not attend Mass, they will participate in an online mass, pray the Lord’s prayer, or discuss the Holy Rosary.

For the foreseeable future, the Mass schedule is as follows:

10/14/2022 – 5th & Kindergarten

10/21/2022 – 4th & 2nd

10/28/2022 – 3rd & 1st

11/4/2022 – 5th & Kindergarten

11/18/2022 – 4th & 2nd

12/2/2022 – 3rd & 1st

12/9/2022 – 5th & Kindergarten

When we can return as a whole school to the Cathedral, I will update everyone.

We have a new music teacher! Ms. Collette LeBoeuf is joining the St. Patrick team. Ms. LeBoeuf is coming to us from New Jersey, where she was a music specialist, a church cantor, and has a Bachelor of Arts in Music Therapy. Please help me welcome Ms. LeBoeuf to St. Patrick.

As the weather is beginning to get cooler, students are only allowed to wear their green St. Patrick fleece in the building. No other sweatshirts or outer wear is allowed (unless it is a dress down day). Please put your child’s name on the tag of the fleece. It will be easier to identify if it is left behind.

I am excited to see everyone at the Buddy Walk on October 15th from 10am – 1pm at UNCC’s Jerry Richardson Stadium. Remember our team name is Love Builds Champions. See you on the football field!

Blessings,

Dr. Alicia Reid

WALKER DISMISSAL PROCEDURE

If your child will be a walker this year at any point, be sure to select "walker" as one of the options on our Online Form (below).  This form states that your family must live within walking distance of the school (no more than 1 mile away) and as parents you understand that your child will be escorted out of the building and expected to walk home without supervision. For safety reasons we will not allow students to be walkers if you do not live within a reasonable walking distance of the school, no more than one mile.

Walkers will still continue to enter the gym in the morning as in years past. In the afternoon, walkers will be released out the door nearest the first grade classrooms which exits near the Family Life Center. A staff member will walk students to the Family Life Center area at which point they will continue to walk home.  If a parent will meet the child to walk with them, they should plan to meet their child on the sidewalk between the church rectory and the Family Life Center. Families will not be permitted to play on the playground after school due to carpool traffic.  Parking is not permitted in the rectory parking lot under any circumstance.

BIRTHDAY TREATS

Students are permitted to bring in store-bought (not homemade) treats to celebrate their birthdays with their class during lunch. Families have the option to purchase ice cream from the cafeteria for the birthday boy/girl and/or for the whole class to celebrate a birthday. Ice cream orders must be placed with Mrs. Loeber, the cafeteria manager, at least one week prior to the date to ensure enough ice cream is available for the class to participate. Mrs. Loeber can be reached via email at ejloeber@stpatrickschool.net.

If you know or suspect that a minor (person under 18) has been abused, please call 9-1-1 or contact local law enforcement.

Also, if you have information about possible sexual abuse or misconduct by any clergy, employee or volunteer of the Diocese of Charlotte, report concerns securely and anonymously 24/7 over the phone or online: 1-888-630-5929 or www.RedFlagReporting.com/RCDOC.
