October 2022 - It Takes a Village

From Jill -

It takes a village to care for someone battling cancer. It takes an extended village to support a family with a child who is battling cancer. That was certainly our experience as Tobin’s aunt (I’d like to say his favorite) and uncle.

The laundry, the food, the daily gallon of chocolate milk, the crying partner, the couch offering, the 3:00 a.m. Diet Cokes, the board game opponent, the sounding board, the errand runner, the hugs and more hugs, the prayers and more prayers...and the parking…oh the parking!

Both of us working in the Texas Medical Center was a blessing in so many ways to support our family during Tobin’s treatment, and the employee parking benefits were huge! Not every family has that support and Tobin realized that. My husband and I also lived 4 miles from the Medical Center in lieu of the 27 miles to Tobin's home, so close family "housing" was also a plus. Again, not every family has the convenient support during the otherwise life-altering inconvenient time of battling cancer.

Many of our families come from far and wide, and we are so thankful to help them with their parking and transportation expenses thanks to all of our generous donors…like you!

You may have heard us say this many times, and it will never cease, we may not be able to help with all of the expenses related to battling childhood cancer, but we can help the precious children get to the fight.

Many many thanks to our We’ll Get This! village!!!
