CANS for CANS Turn your deposit cans and bottles into a donation for LFC. Your cans = cans of food to stock the Food Club shelves. Visit the Shop-N-Save parking lot on Sept. 21 and drop off your bags of cans and bottles - we'll do the rest! Spread the word by sharing the Facebook Event page! Special thanks to our partners at Shop-N-Save, the LHS O-Bots Robotics Team, LFC volunteers and Girl Scout Troop #4528 for making this event happen! |

Thanks to Ludington Daily News for helping spread the word about the impact of hunger on people near and far. Shop-N-Save: thanks for loaning your space to the LFC team for Cans for Cans! And thanks again to the Bottle and Can for generously donating to the Food Club this month. |

MEET ALANA CALHOUN Alana Calhoun’s smile, energy and good natured spirit are infectious. For those of us who volunteer with her – it’s hard to keep up! Alana is a 15 year old sophomore at Ludington High School, and she walks to the Food Club after school. Alana is willing to do any job and takes the initiative to jump in at the register, staff the membership desk, repack food/nonfood items, sort through donated produce and clean up. Alana said she wanted to volunteer to give back to the community for all her good fortunes. Her food science teacher recommended she try Lakeshore Food Club. It’s worked out wonderfully! Alana especially likes to work at the checkout register because she gets to interact with people and see how the Food Club is really helping. Alana has always lived in Ludington and is the youngest of three children. She is an avid dancer, taking lessons since she was 4. She hopes to parlay her love of dancing into her college future in some way. She volunteers at her church, Victory Trinity Lutheran, and is planning on joining the National Honor Society this year. |

DEEP CLEAN & HIGH FIVES Mark your calendars: Thursday, September 19 will be our Fall Deep Clean, from 9-11 a.m. All hands on deck to help tackle some of those projects that get swept aside in the busyness! Also: be sure to add your "high five" to the wall in the volunteer office to recognize fellow volunteers for great acts of service and community! |
