H5N1 is a circulating avian influenza A that has recently infected several mammal populations leading to thousands of animal deaths. It has previously infected over 800 humans in the past two decades. As of now there have not been cases of human-to-human transmission.

Marburg virus disease (MVD) is a rare condition that is caused by the Marburg virus (same virus family as Ebola) first identified in 1967. The reservoir host of Marburg virus is typically the African fruit bat. A current outbreak is occurring in Equatorial Guinea with the situation being closely monitored.
