NOTES FROM THE HEART

Straight Paths and Wrinkly Walkers

Vicky Adkins

Someone recently blessed me with the most wonderful words of evidence that our LORD is working in my life. She told me that she’d been looking at who I used to be, instead of seeing me as I am now – a work still in progress but a bit further along the path than the place where she had unintentionally continued to see me. She was stunned to find out that she saw me that way. And frankly, I was stunned to know she saw me that way, too!

I know this woman very well and love her deeply. Her love for me is just as strong. She is an amazing woman of GOD, a prophet who is given over totally to her relationship with our LORD. She pours out her life on a daily basis for those He brings in her path. She does not withhold her time when I have a need. I've seen her deal with the rejection of loved ones and watch as she struggles to make ends meet with whatever she is given as a missionary. I have known her to go without food and necessities, praying and trusting GOD to provide what she needed. This is not a hard-hearted woman, beloved. And I say all this so that you will be in remembrance of the fact that we can do all kinds of wonderful things for GOD and still not see things that we've tucked away inside…things that would surprise us to learn about ourselves...

Chuck's Anecdotes

Blink of an Eye

Mark 8:36

"What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?"

The older I get (almost 70) the faster time goes by. Vicky and I reminisce about things and catch ourselves realizing that things we thought happened a year ago actually happened several years ago .....4 or 5 years ago. I'm sure some of you (seniors) can relate.

Compared to eternity, life is like a blink of an eye. The decisions we make have eternal consequences or rewards. That's why Christians have a burden to pray that people would find God and the promise of eternal life with Him. How sad that people believe such strange ideas about life after death. How deceived they are by satan. Is it worth risking eternal life for an idea that a person came up with? Look at the complexity of the human body, the precision of the workings of the universe. The wonders of nature. How can all of that be an accident.....from a big bang? I would rather trust the Bible, and our Father who designed the universe and put things in motion so long ago. And He loves us so much that He wants to spend eternity with us. All we have to do is accept what Jesus did for all humankind and make Him the Lord and Savior of our lives.

As a believer, we will blink and enter into the kingdom that Jesus has prepared for us for eternity. That's a long time. Those that curse God and trust what others say and believe about eternity will blink and find themselves in a horrible place with no hope.... It will be too late. You must decide your destiny on this side of eternity.....before your last blink of the eye. I hope you choose Jesus. It will be the best decision you ever make.

Please share this with your loved ones, friends or anyone God leads you to. God bless you richly!

Shalom Family.

Chuck

Born Again?  John 3

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."

There would be few people today who do NOT know or have heard the above verse. But how many have in fact read and understood that WHOLE teaching of Jesus? You see, our salvation hinges on what Jesus said. So many people today, within the church, say, "Oh, of course I believe in Jesus!" But can they say that their life, their life-style their whole way of thinking, their attitudes and mindsets, behaviors have been TRANSFORMED by this "belief in Jesus"?

Where Is Your Faith

We close one year, and begin a new one.

A great time to self-examine our hearts. To ask ourselves, who did we serve this year? Who did we trust this year? Who did we walk these 365 days with? Did we grow bitter or did we grow better? Did we learn to sit in silence or did we learn to speak up with boldness? Did we blend in with the world this year, or did we feel like an outcast because of our faith in Jesus Christ. Did we grow more in knowledge of our Heavenly Father and our Lord? What did the challenges and storms of this year let you learn?

I recently was having a conversation with someone close to me about what is going on around us in this world, and I said to them, “Sooner or later there will be a generation that will experience the beginning of sorrows that Jesus talked about in Matthew 24:8” and we may just be the generation that sees this come to pass.

But this is not the end of our story, it is the countdown to the greatest move of God since the world began.

Let us ponder this for a moment. We are facing the worst times the world has ever known, and the greatest outpouring of the Spirt of the living God. These will be the most exciting times for a believer. We know Jesus is alive and well, and we can sometimes take that fact for granted. But sadly, the world does not know this, and that is the reason we are here, for such a time as this! To be his hand extended to a deceived and dying world....

Are you carrying burdens you should not be carrying? Is your mind filled with many things, worries – trying to figure out people, situations, a relationship gone wrong? How to help someone who is not asking for help? We can take on all kinds of issues in our heart and mind that we are not meant to carry and part of the ‘renewing of the mind’ is about releasing those things that you cannot change and thinking on those things that are all together true.

Phil 4:8 Whatsoever is true, honest, just, pure, whatsoever is lovely, of good report, if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise – think on these things!

How would it feel to start 2022 by leaving behind all your cares that you are carrying – those ones that your mind plays over and strives with – those thoughts that keep you from being at peace in your heart....
