A Good Non Toxic Southern Oregon
Community Conversation!
Thank you to everyone who attended the event, and thank you to all who presented! We hope this is the first of several conversations to talk about
better ways to handle weeds in our landscape: parks, schools, and roadsides.
Thank you, Wanda Borland of RVTV, for your time and attention in creating
this short video - we are glad to have captured the messages of PPRV,
Friends of Wagner Creek, Lomakatsi, Unete', and Bee City USA Talent!
Apologies to Jackson Soil and Water Conservation District and
Safe to Play for missing you this time.
Videos from the program coming soon!
We are proud to be working with Beyond Toxics
on this initiative to create a
Non Toxic Southern Oregon as part of a greater Non Toxic Oregon!

Walking the Talk .... Planting the Plants
We are so excited to see our office frontscape changing!
Thanks to a grant from the Ashland Food Co-op and the work of many fine volunteers, we have already made major improvements, with more to come!
Thanks to the volunteers, businesses, and organizations who have contributed, this
first phase of replacing many of the original non-native bushes with
native shrubs and perennial plants is almost complete.
Our hope is that this project helps redefine the perception of a "pollinator garden"! Stop by the next time you are in the neighborhood.
Look for a longer article with much gratitude and more pictures next month.
Btw - we are looking for a source for Yerba Santa - we would love 1 or 2!
See picture below - yellow flags indicate plant locations, with only a few missing!

The Rogue Buzzway is Buzzin'!
We are excited to introduce you to Miranda Schneider,
the SOU capstone student who is working with us on our
Rogue Buzzway project this year!
We are looking forward to seeing an interactive Buzzway map,
with photos of all the beautiful gardens!
Do YOU have a pollinator landscape? Let's map it!
Thank you, Miranda!
A picture of Miranda is below.

ANIMALS MATTER won Best Ecology and Nature program for two programs: Saving Pollinators and Pollinators and Pesticides - A Critical Situation
and Best PSA/Short Documentary for our PSA to support two bills
by Beyond Toxics which would have restricted use of neonicoticoids in 2019.
Thank you, Wanda! And Thank You to Julia Babb and all the volunteers
(including Wanda!) in the RVTV studio who helped make this happen!
See picture below - Wanda is in the spotlight holding her awards!

Lights, Action.....Is There an Electrician in the House?
We need to replace the old, buzzing (not like a bee!) fluorescent ceiling lights
in our office with energy efficient T8 bulbs.
Might you know an electrician who wants to show our work in a good light,
and give us a good deal?
Thanks!

Pollinators' Pick
The world is less that it was.
Along with so many, we were shocked and saddened
to learn of the loss of these two courageous eco-heroes in Mexico.
Our hearts go out to their families and friends,
and to the Monarch butterflies they were working so hard to protect.
