Note from Playschool Teacher Claire Welcome to September, Moon's Nest families! We've said a temporary goodbye to our friends who have transitioned into kindergarten or other modes of schooling--showering them with blessings on their last day!--but we're also still in summer mode: soaking up the sun and spending as much time as possible outside and in the water. However, the earth is turning; at playschool, we've noticed the red and gold leaves, the ever-so-slightly cooler days, and the light changing more quickly in the late afternoons. I am so excited to sink into the rhythms of fall with your witchlets towards the end of this month--more candlelight and storytelling; more hot drinks and quiet sit-spots; more deep play in the ever-changing wild corners of this patch of land we call Portland. We had a beautiful celebration of Lammas, with homemade play-dough "bread" and fresh-picked blackberries to honor the harvest, and we're gearing up for the next point on the wheel of the year. On the last day of the summer session, everyone is invited to say goodbye to summer, welcome in the autumn, and celebrate the equinox (just a little early!) We'll gather from 4-6pm on Friday, September 13th (right after playschool) for a potluck and small ritual to commemorate this transition before our week-long break. Please email me at clairexandra@gmail.com if you have questions, and/or if you and your families plan to attend! Warmly, Claire |
