You are invited to enter fully into the dramatic events of your salvation by participation in the liturgies of the coming Holy Week. Today, Palm Sunday, we recall Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem, hailed as ‘Son of David’ by crowds with palm branches, in sharp contrast to his betrayal by his friend, arrest on trumped-up charges and crucifixion by the authorities later in the week. |

HOLY WEEK Begins today, Palm Sunday. Please see our Lent, Holy Week and Easter leaflet, and/or the list above for details of our services during this intense pinnacle of the Christian year. |
|
|
SACRED TRIDUUM The Sacred Triduum begins with the Liturgy of Maundy Thursday and ends on Easter Day. Liturgically, the Maundy Thursday and Good Friday liturgies and the Easter Vigil are one service and you are strongly encouraged to take partake in the entire Triduum. |

WALSINGHAM Owing to some cancellations we have 2 spaces on our Parish Pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham, Norfolk from Monday 15 - Thursday 18 April. The cost is £378 and is fully inclusive of accommodation in the Shrine, full board, private coach travel and the pilgrimage programme. Owing to the closeness of the date we will need the full amount paid before Easter. Please speak to Hilary Hardwick today if you would like to come. |

FR JACOB is currently waiting for some legal documents, which will allow him to continue as our Assistant Priest for another year, to be processed. Unfortunately, there has been some difficulty and delay in this and Fr Jacob is currently without the required license from the Bishop. We hope this will be rectified soon and that we will see Fr Jacob in time for our Patronal Festival in September. |

BAPTISM & CONFIRMATION Please pray for our candidates David, Jade, Joshua, Mandy, Maciej, Natalia, Ross and Virette as they prepare to receive the Rites of Christian Initiation at Easter and Pentecost (Sunday 19 May). |

WE STILL NEED YOU! A friendly greeting and welcome on arrival at the door can be very reassuring to people at an unfamiliar church for the first time who may be feeling a little uneasy; and it’s nice for regulars too. We need some more welcomers to help with this important (but not onerous) ministry. It means arriving at least 15 minutes before the start of Sunday Mass, but with enough people on the rota (that we intend to produce) each one would not be called upon often. Please tell Keith Jeffery (keith@stmarysilford.org.uk) if you can help in this way. |

PARISH SAFEGUARDING OFFICER (PSO) The PCC has appointed Nicky Tann as PSO in succession to Clare Cox. Nicky will work with the Vicar and PCC to ensure the highest standards of safeguarding are met and kept across our community and that any concerns are dealt with according to national Church of England policy. |

LENT BOXES to take away are available at the back of church. These are for Lenten alms for the Additional Curates Society. The ACS helps less well-off parishes to afford a curate. They have helped us in the past and we hope they may do so in the future. Online donations at additionalcurates.co.uk/support-us/. Please return your Lent boxes from next week. |

REGULAR GIVING Giving to fund the ministry of the Church is an essential part of our Christian faith. Please, if you don’t already, would you consider giving a regular amount? No amount is too small. Using our parish giving scheme is easy and you are in full control. One-off donations can be made using the Parish Giving Scheme, or with the card machine at the back of church, or by putting cash/cheques in the offering plate. Cheques should be made payable to St Mary’s Ilford PCC. |
