Climate change is no longer big news to many. After the two pandemic years we have all somehow got used to it. Each in his own way. This year, many countries in the world have eased restrictions and many people are going about their daily lives again. But climate change is still there and I ask myself: what now?

As an artist I am dealing with this question

andI  have painted a picture on this topic.

Title of the painting:

In the eye of the storm

In the midst of the crisis I stand

And watch the people cut down the trees

Time is running out

the grass is still growing, but for how long?

The red coat reflects my fear and despair

But I search for solutions

I need a glimmer of hope!

The storm is here and we watch...

Her name is Fatemeh

a women who abstains

Inspired by the news in the US (ban on abortions) and also by many stories from young women

When I hear: I don't want children! When I look at the world like this.. it no longer makes sense for me to have children. Or: The world scares me, how could I bring a child into this world now? That wouldn't be fair to the child...

That makes me think. There are more and more young women who don't feel safe in these times. Even though many women in the 21st century are flourishing with their educational opportunities and careers - there is this dichotomy of whether to start a family in such times of crisis. I can understand that very well. 

I wanted a title for this painting that symbilised these young women. Fatemeh is a Persian name and means: a woman who renounces.

For me, these are these wonderfully intelligent women who 
want to give up an important part: having a child.

The painting will be exhibited in Hamburg this summer!
