White Tara Mantra Accumulation for His Holiness the Dalai Lama

Friday July 1st - Saturday July 9th

HAPPY 87TH BIRTHDAY YOUR HOLINESS!!

To honour His Holiness the Dalai Lama on the auspicious occasion of his 87th birthday on July 6th 2022, the DBC will be continuing our annual White Tara mantra  accumulation tradition from July 1st – July 9th, 2022. Collectively, we hope to accumulate at least 1 million White Tara Mantras with the final count sent to HHDL’s office in Dharamsala.

Venerable Lhagon Rinpoche is encouraging all members and friends of the Dhargyey Buddhist Centres to dedicate time and energy to His Holiness by attending these timetabled sessions on Zoom and accumulating White Tara mantras over this time. The accumulation can start as soon as you receive this message. We hope you will recite the mantras in the formal sessions and in your own time to reach our goal of 1 million mantras.

We will be gathering on Zoom each evening from 7:30-8:30pm from Friday July 1st until Saturday July 9th - when we will recite mantras after tsok. There will be no mantra recitation on Thursday 7th July as this is a teaching night.

We will collect the mantra total on the full moon, Wednesday 13th July.

Please keep a record of the mantras you accumulate during the sessions and other times throughout the day and they will be combined at the end. You can email your count to contact@dhargyeybuddhism.com on or before the 13th July.

Please email the Centre if you require a copy of the White Tara sadhana. When reciting the mantras on your own, you can say White Tara's mantra 108 times (or a minimum of 21 times) and then switch to the shorter condensed Tara mantra. (See below)

White Tara mantra:

om tare tuttare ture mama ah yu punye jnana pushtim kuru ye svaha

Tara mantra:

om tare tuttare ture svaha

May His Holiness have a long healthy life, may all of his aspirations be fulfilled and may he return safely to his homeland, Tibet.

  SUNDAY TEACHINGS
"STAGES OF MEDITATION
KAMALASHILA"
10.30am

Ven. Geshe Dhonye will be giving teachings on "Stages of Meditation: The Buddhist Classic on Training the Mind". This is a commentary written by His Holiness the Dalai Lama based on the writings of Kamalashila which explains the principles of meditation in a practice oriented way. It is based upon the middle section of the Bhavanakrama (a set of three Buddhist texts written in Sanskrit by the Indian Buddhist scholar yogi Kamalashila c. 9th century CE of Nalanda university). It is a favorite text of HH Dalai Lama who has described the text as being like a key that opens the door to all other major Buddhist scriptures.

Topics included are: the nature of mind, how to develop compassion and loving-kindness, calm abiding, wisdom; and how to establish a union of calm abiding and special insight.

THURSDAY TEACHINGS

The Tenets and the Paths and Stages

7:30pm

Taught by Ven. Geshe Nyima Dorje and translated by Losang Dawa.

The study of Tenets is the study of Buddhist philosophy and it will deepen one’s understanding of all the Buddha’s teachings. While the philosophy behind these Teachings is complex, it is worthwhile to challenge one’s own concept of reality by studying The Tenets and Paths and Stages. Consequently, through study and contemplation, we can develop a deeper understanding of the true nature of reality.

Please email the Centre if you would like the resources and the recordings for this course.

Please register here for the Zoom link and to receive resources and recordings.

We are very happy to announce that we are starting another twelve-week Introduction to Buddhism course, which will be run on Zoom on Monday evenings at 7.00pm, from 18 July to 3 October 2022. The course will be run by our wonderful and very knowledgeable translator, Losang Dawa. Losang will cover a new topic each week. There will be plenty of time for conversation and questions.

We request that attendees commit to attending the full 12 weeks of the course

Supporting the Teachings

This year the DBC is asking for koha/contributions for the teachings, rather than setting a fee, which allows people to decide what they are able to give. Contributions to the Centre will go towards the cost of preparing and hosting the teachings for the entire year of programmes which relies on:

            * Looking after our Lamas
            * Administration of the programmes
            * Upkeep of the Centre.

We are a Charitable Trust run by volunteers and depend on the generosity of our community and the general public.
If you are already a member of our Centre, we thank you so much for your ongoing support. Or would you like to become one? Please email the Centre if you would

like more information.

Please contribute to this year’s programme which promises to be relevant,

dynamic and uplifting.
