Finishing Freya

Hello all you splendid subscribers and welcome to my February newsletter. Thank you for all the great feedback about my fitting post for the Tilly and the Buttons Freya Dress. A lot of you found it useful to read about my thought processes on why I made which adjustments and how. In the end it wasn't perfect, but way better than where I started.

My MingMakesMistakes post and review is now up with details of my experience with the pattern and construction, and lots of photos as I went along.

Starting a new project is always exciting, but dampened by the hassle of tracing and cutting on my small work surface, only just bigger than my A1 cutting mat.

Using an old Ikea desktop and two metal trestles from Screwfix, I now have a large adjustable height table which can be put up or away in a couple of minutes.

What's next?

The next patterns in the book Stretch! are the Stella Hoodie and Joggers. I am starting with the hoodie and with any luck, I'll have it finished before the weather gets warm. What am I saying? I'm in the UK, hoodies are good all year round :)

What else?

I'm super excited to have booked onto an overlocker workshop at the Guthrie&Ghani store in Birmingham in March. I use my overlocker to finish seams, but don't feel I have enough control to sew garments with it yet. This workshop covers the basics, and then goes through sewing a simple T-shirt. I'll let you know how I get on :)
