Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2021

Thank you to so many of our members who joined us to change our constitution, to hear about the work of Legato, our ‘Singing for Equality’ fundraising programme, the announcement of the host city for Various Voices 2026 and a presentation from Team Bologna 2023. The minutes of the AGM will be sent to the choirs soon.

Various Voices 2026 host city is Brussels

After two great bids from Barcelona and Brussels we were all very excited to hear from the host city. There will now be a period of feedback about the process to learn and improve before we outline the process for Various Voices 2030.

Various Voices 2023 Bologna

Choir registration opens on 1st January 2022 and participant registration opens on 1st May 2022. We heard about the Various Voices pre-festival Italian tour option and about the exciting programme for Various Voices Bologna 2023.

Have a look at what they are planning for you and sign up for the social media https://various-voices.it/

Legato will be sending out information to link you with team Bologna and all the flavour of the Bologna festival.

Join the Legato ROUND TABLES

We’re launching our round tables on returning to rehearsals after the pandemic break. Save the Dates: the first one already next week!

Based on the outcomes of our Big Conversation survey on what kind of services and help members would like to see from Legato and discussions with those of you who volunteered to contribute to the upcoming series of round tables and workshops, we have come up with a plan for the next few months.

We will start with three open round table discussions focused on returning to rehearsals after COVID-19 break. Some of our choirs are already back to ‘normal’, some are just making first steps. We invite all of you interested in listening and sharing their experiences and best practices to join one or more of the following facilitated zoom sessions. The sessions are planned for different days of the week to accommodate the different schedules we all have.

1st: Monday, 8 November, 6.30 - 8.00 pm (CET)
2nd: Sunday, 5 December, 2.00 - 3.30 pm (CET)
3rd: Saturday, 8 January, 2.00 - 3.30 pm (CET)

In 2022, after these three round tables, we’ll continue with discussions around repertoire: choosing repertoire, commissioning new pieces, arrangements, developing a concert programme, etc.

We know that your contributions to Spring Affair were amazing so we are presenting Winter Melody. Join in all the fun and the virtual winter concert will premiere on 26 December 2021 and be available online afterwards. Deadline for handing in the videos is 16 December 2021.

Christmas concerts

During November we would like to feature details of the concerts and seasonal performances you will be singing at either virtually or in person drawing the December and into January. As we begin to plan life and choirs living with Covid we want to share all your amazing work and encourage others to go along or go online to hear and see you.

Please email editor@legato-choirs.com telling us what, where, when and how we can join you. If you want to include an image or poster as a pdf or jpeg we would love to hear from you.

Do you want to share your latest concert or performance, than send in a short text with images and video link to editor@legato-choirs.com. We would love to publish it in one of our next newsletters.
