PINE ISLAND FISH begins their 20th annual Clothes for Kids Program
It’s time again for the 20th annual FISH (Fellow Islanders Sending Help) drive to provide clothes to deserving children of Pine Island and Matlacha.
The goal is to assure that all children have new outfits for the first two days of school.
Unfortunately, for many parents, buying new clothes is not possible.
Last year 145 children proudly wore their new attire to school, thanks to the generosity of fellow islanders who bought clothes for a specific child or made cash donations so that FISH shoppers could make the purchases.
Parents who wish to have their child or children included on this year’s list need to call Nancy (for Spanish speaking assistance) at 239-257-8385 or Mary Jo at 239- 283-7862 prior to Monday, July 27th.
For those who would like to “adopt” a student, please contact Mary Jo at the same number.
Those who wish to adopt a child are given only a first name, sex and age so that they can purchase appropriately-sized two shirts, two shorts or pants and a package of underwear.
FISH will provide a gift card for a pair of shoes for each child.
Clothing drop off location is located at
Fire Station No. 1 and should be done by July 30th.
Clothes will be distributed to families in a drive-by in the portico at the Pine Island Methodist Church on Saturday August 1st from 9 am – 11 am.
For anyone who wishes to give a monetary contribution for the clothes,
tax deductible donations may be sent to
FISH Basket Brigade, P.O. Box 357, Matlacha, FL 33993.
For further information, call Nancy or Mary Jo at the phone numbers shown above.
