We survived Tulsa & the AJSA Junior Nationals...

now onto the Iowa State Fair!

Summer is moving along at a nice clipping pace, and the Iowa State Fair has already started! Truly, nothing compares. Growing up just 30 minutes from the Illinois

State Fair, I might have went to maybe 2 concerts. I didn't grow up showing and honestly had no desire to go to. Looking back now, it was kinda like our current county fair.

The Iowa State Fair is on a whole different level. The people, the food, the activities, the atmosphere...it truly is unmatched. While I currently and muttering under my breath as I pack for this 9 day adventure, I came across this picture on my Facebook feed and it sums up what we do & why we do it so perfectly...

In the daily grind of show season, we can easily forget the Why. Between running to get a truck load of shavings, placing the feed order, getting the health papers, ironing the clothes, loading the truck, the daily washing & walking...it just gets to be so much.

And then I remember the why...the skills they develop, the relationships they make, the lessons & responsibilities they learn...that is the why.

This way of life definitely isn't for everyone. It isn't easy either...but its worth it. Because at the end of the day, everyone from all walks of life can come together in the middle of the cattle barn can share a drink & good conversation.

So, I'm going to go start ironing these clothes & shining the boots and head to the Iowa State Fair, nothing compares.

What I am Reading & Watching

This thriller/mystery is rather interesting as it follows a podcaster who tries to solve murders. The podcaster goes to a town in Texas to try to uncover the truth where he meets the main murder suspect who has no memory of the night in question. Give it a listen!

With all the hype around the new Twister movie, I figured we would watch the old version. The kids really weren't sure what to think of it... it might have scared them just a little bit.

Have you seen it?

Frother

Alright, I have had multiple frothers over the last few years. This one, I have bought multiple times because the price is right, and it works well. I have one on our counter, in our camper, in my lunch box and soon to be at the state fair!

Removing a Tick?

We will be in tick season for another few months, so here is a good article to help you remove those pesky little things.

How to Remove a Tick from Your Dog - American Kennel Club

Wondering how to remove a tick from your dog? It's important to do this quickly but correctly. Here are the steps to follow.

Monat Pet

When we send puppies home, we send a sample of our favorite pet shampoo from Monat. I signed up to be a Market Partner 5 years ago when they launched and believe in all their products 100%

I used their haircare and skincare line. So does Sydney and Jackson. Wade still uses Melaleuca...it's about the only thing that gets piggy smells out, LOL!

If you are interested in getting some or the spray, here is a link.
