The Canadian Perinatal Mental Health Collaborative has expanded, and the Newfoundland and Labrador Chapter of CMPHC ambassadors had their first monthly meeting on January 23rd. Goals of the NL chapter for this year include enhanced public awareness and political recognition for perinatal mental health. They will also be coordinating the 3rd annual Flora’s Walk for Perinatal Mental Health, led by CPMHC NL Chapter Chair and PMHANL Board Member, Dr. Jamie Green! World Maternal Mental Health Day (WMMHD) is May 1, 2024 "Stronger Together" WMMHD is celebrated internationally and draws attention to essential mental health concerns for mothers, birthing parents, support partners, and families. Through this year's theme, "Stronger Together", the campaign of WMMHD aims to raise awareness, influence policy, and change the attitude to improve quality of care for those experiencing perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. Flora's Walk Fundraiser for Perinatal Mental Health is led by the Canadian Perinatal Mental Health Collaborative, a non-profit organization. Postpartum Planning for Expecting Parents - Free Class Postpartum International (PSI) hosts a 2-hour class twice a month for expecting parents, as a space to assist in preparedness and skill building for parents' emotional well-being in the postpartum period. The class will include education, discussion, a review of a postpartum plan, and resources. The main topics covered include postpartum physical recovery, partner support, self-care, support networks, lactation and emotional well-being, and perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. All expectant parents are welcome: moms, birthing people, non-gestational parents, partners, couples, and single parents. If you are expecting a baby soon, you are welcome to join! These classes are meant as a one-time session, so please only register once. This is a free resource, so please cancel your registration at least 24 hours in advance if you cannot attend the class to provide an opportunity for someone on the waitlist.

Postpartum Support International (PSI) is an international organization that increases awareness among public and professional communities about the emotional changes that persons experience during pregnancy and after birth. PSI shares information and resources through its volunteer coordinators, website and annual conference. Its goal is to provide current information, resources, education, and to call for further research and laws to support the mental health of pregnant and parenting persons.
